Hi,

Over here in Europe, the American diesels and GM's especially don't have such a good reputation. So I would like to know when your pumps failed. If you've replaced a pump and have made modifications please mention them as well. if possible, tell something about the conditions the car was driven in (hot, heavy loads, fast driving,...)

I would appreciate if you could mention when a part of the pump (PMD, optical sensor,...) was replaced.

Thanks,

an overseas American car nut

350,000 km (217,485 mi), hasn't failed yet, rarely use conditioner, oilfield use truck, 1 pmd @ 85,000 km and still on the pump.

My pump Went down to a bad tank of fuel, but it had other problems. The fuel solenoid was also failing and once it broke the pump had to be changed. It was 15,000 miles old.

Mine also went from a bad tank of fuel.

There should be an option to vote for bad fuel. Regardless of mileage, a pump will die if it gets too much water.

As far as I know, the pump on my '95 was original at around 185,000 miles but I didn't buy the truck new so I don't know for sure..(so I didn't vote) I moved the PMD over from the old pump and it is still going fine

Previous owner got updated pump in some kind of campaign Apr-May 2002, don't think it failed on him. i now run Power Service most of the time and try to run good fuels.

Replaced mine at 153K, although it wasn't quite dead yet. The optical sensor went out, so instead of spending $$ on a new sensor for a tired pump, I spent the $$$ and got another whole pump.

Did get a new PMD around 100K.
