Just wondering if any of you out there are techs that live near me. Would be a lot nicer to go to a dealer where you know somebody so you dont have to take off all the aftermarket stuff.

Where in North Jersey? I'm in Westchester and I'm looking for a good Diesel Mechanic for when the D-Max goes t**s-up.

Seems like you go into the local GMC dealer around here and they are ready to sell you a Denali right quick, but mention the word "diesel" and you get blank stares. They only know gas here. The GMC dealer 3-miles from my house doesn't have any diesels on the lot and would have to order one from the factory if I wanted one.

I'm also in Upstate NY (Northern Dutchess Co.), and had a heck of a time finding someone to work on my truck. I posted 2 threads here hoping for some help but, in our area, there doesn't seem to be too many well-trained techs. Finding a certified, master tech seems out of the question!

I even called GM looking for some assistance and advice. I might as well have been trying to get milk from a bull! They were no help at all. Just kept giving me the names of dealers who they said were all equally good. They're not even equally good at selling. How could they possibly be equally good at service when they their senior tech doesn't even know how to spell diesel???

I called nine (9) dealers in the area surrounding my home and didn't get any warm feelings about any of them. One refused to service it, one said he didn't know if he could get it into his service area, one said he wasn't sure about what services were required at each service interval, one said his diesel tech was mostly up to date with his diesel training, one that also sells big diesels, and you'd think would be OK, I was told by an employee had a staff with very poor morale and a service area that was very poorly organized, etc., etc., etc.! It was like some kind of nightmare to find someone I was comfortable with and felt I could trust.

Finally, I came upon a dealership in Monticello, named Arthur Glick GMC. They only sell trucks! It's 90" from my house, but I didn't care! They also sell Kenworths and seem to do quite a bit of work on them as well. The Service Manager there, Al Rosa, was very polite, friendly and eager to address my service needs. More importantly, he also seems to have some knowledge about what needs to be done at each service, and has a tech there named Bobby who seems knowledgeable as well. So far, I have been there for 2 regular service appointments and one warranty issue, all of which were handled quickly and professionally.

Because I don't know anything about servicing a diesel, I always take the list that was published on this site that was composed by dmaxallitech, and that is what the folks at Glick GMC work from. Only once did they suggest one additional item that I consider as part of their routine service. Fine!

emerick115—I don't know where in Upstate NY you are, but if you're anywhere near Monticello, you might want to check this place out.

Prophet—If your in White Plains, for example, you are about the same 90" from Glick that I am.

I'm open to any other suggestions but, so far, Glick seems to be taking care of my needs better than anyone else I could find in my area!

Town and Country Chevy in Kent CT, and Park GMC in New Milford , CT both have good diesel techs. I've had both my 6.2s and 6.6 duramax serviced by both dealerships. So if Your in the Pawling/Amenia area they are close by. Don't forget the Northeast Diesel gettogether happening nearby in "Upstate CT" NW Connecticut this weekend, just across state line from Pawling/Amenia/Millerton NY. www.dieselgettogether.com (http://www.dieselgettogether.com)Edited by: ctgmcduramax

Oh yeah, btw UPSTATE NY means many different things. Some consider Yonkers "Upstate". To me Glens Falls or Platsburg are "Upstate".

Thanks for the leads on the diesel tech. I'll look into both Glick and John K's spot. I'm in Jersey often enough, down by exit 117, so I could stop in there.

I plan to be at the NE diesel get together thiis weekend.

Great forum.

I havent brought it in for anything as of yet. It would just be cool to not have to de mod everything to get the work done.
