: Stopped and drove an LMM today....
rickstruck 04-03-2007, 09:30 PM ...and all I can saw is, Wow. I am not talking about the LMM specifically but the entire platform. The truck was a 2500HD e/c s/b 4x4 2LT. It had 5 miles on it and didn't shock me with the power. After I drove the LMM, I parked it next to a "Classic", popped the hoods and walked around and crawled underneath the two. The big deal is in the details. It was the little things that impressed me most. The real fender wells on the bed, the wider and stronger bed sides, and the option of the cargo management system. And then all of the new frilly stuff like the tire pressure monitor, being able to cross-load the radio presets, the window visors, and heated window washer fluid. I am sure that I missed alot of stuff and would like to go back and do it again but I liked what I saw. If it weren't for all of this DPF sillyness, I would really seriously consider it. I think that I am going to hold off for a while and wait to see what comes. If all else fails, I will buy a gently used LBZ truck and save myself $10-$15K. If I buy new, I will own it for years and years to come, so I need to buy right the first time. Those of you who have a new LMM, congrats, the new platform is awesome.
sqpdbill 04-04-2007, 07:11 AM What was the sticker price?
Reineke 04-04-2007, 07:21 AM That new platform offers a lot of cool stuff. I would like to cross over, but not so sure I want to build up another one...
rickstruck 04-04-2007, 03:56 PM The sticker price was $47,XXX. Gray cloth interior, white exterior. Salesman offered $45,000 if I drove it away right then. How so very generous of him. I may still wait until they are proven. My 1500HD does okay with my current towing requirements but we are planning on buying a toy hauler or at least a TT in the next year or so. I will have to step up by then, I am just always on the fence about which one to buy. I usually don't post much, I typically find what I need to know with the "search" function. Thanks for running such a useful site.
thejdman04 04-05-2007, 09:16 AM That salesman was so generious you should have jumped on that offer lol
jdugie123 04-05-2007, 10:57 AM i think you could get them down a little more glad to hear that the new trucks are still as good as the old ones and they didn't lose any performance
SS396 04-05-2007, 02:41 PM There are some better prices out there. I was just quoted $42.4K on a LTZ Ext Cab Long Bed. 47K was the sticker.
Required a trade-in 1999 or newer, $1,000 rebate. Plus another $1,000 rebate. This was stated as fleet pricing.
Quackmback 04-05-2007, 03:16 PM just newly ordered LT2 2500HD CC/SB 4X4 Z71 leather and all options except navi:
sticker- $51,430
sale price- $45,000 minus rebates at time of delivery
JIMDMAX 04-05-2007, 03:59 PM wow!! 51 grand i dont think i will ever own new again just got to the end of my payment book would hate to see a new book at $16,000 more then my 02
Jomar 04-06-2007, 11:18 PM I drove a LMM today, ECLB 4x4 LT 2. Nice but will not keep up with my LBZ. Drove up and down the freeway and ride, handling, sound were all great. Acceleration wasn`t quite like my LBZ though but hey-- it was right out of the box. After that I went down the street and drove a 08 6.4 PSD.
It wasn`t all that bad but, it sure won`t keep up with the dmax and those seats are just not built for my rearend. From a stop I punched it and turbo lag was sure noticeable at first and the the tranny started shifting and it seemed like it shifted too soon all the way thru 4th. I mentioned this to the sales guy and he said yeah but it has 5 gears now. I sad so, the dmax has 6 and he gave me a blank stare and I knew he was unaware of the 6 speed ally. He made a big deal out of the PSD being the KING of towing now that the F450 is rated for 24,000# and it can out pull them all. I told him it is only rated to pull more which don`t mean it can pull more. Anyway as far as I`m concerned the dmax is still on top.
Now it`s on to a 6.7 cummins---
eng158 04-06-2007, 11:37 PM man those trucks sound nice. they give me something to dream about at night. i picture myself in a truck like that one day.
really does sound nice. my dad bought a 07 taho and man that thing is nice especially compared to his astro van. so i am assuming these new trucks are a lot like his truck.
those that have this new truck good luck and keep us posted on them.
monsterboardr 04-07-2007, 01:57 AM me too! all i can say is awesome power. drove a crew cab regular box z71, but the tires break loose too easy. lost to my buddies dodge(bully dog 100hp, manual trans) i spun the tires through third:( oh well still lots of fun and a great truck. my only complaint is the soft brake pedal (i'm used to the firmness of my street/track car lets me feel what is going on)
sfcjones 04-07-2007, 08:24 AM Kinda funny you know, we buy these trucks and look at the costs of the mods and everything. It just about cost me a marriage. My wife said I had better not even think about it(buying a new truck) But I have wooing and haaaing over the new LMM. I am thinking of a way to actually do this. I must have rocks in my head...anyway the dealer told me what he would give me for mine and it just about took the wind out of my sails. Just because I have 158k+ miles doesn't mean doodly squat. It is dealer maintain and everything. They sold the new one and now I am waiting for another one to magically appear on the lot. I like everything about the new LMM. Sure do wish someone would buy me one:D
rcpd34 04-24-2007, 10:33 PM Drove one yesterday. Outta the box it is quicker than my LLY and the LBZ. The thing laid rubber w/o even trying! I spec'd a fully loaded LMM LTZ out at $55,284.00 sticker. I about fell down. My cost is $49,400 which represents a little more than $1000 under invoice. I think it's a pretty good price; has anyone gotten a better deal anywhere? I think I might wait a week or so and order an '08 at this point. I hear the '07 cut off is the 27th.

with howards help and the march incentives, i got mine for 1500 under and 0% for 36...pretty good deal. Should finally be at the dealer tomorrow
howard_m18 04-25-2007, 02:15 AM Way to go,JEFF!! Howard

Please explain. My understanding is the incentives available are only those in effect at time of delivery. So, March incentives are way expired. I also cannot find any money back on the LMM; only the leftover LBZ.
Grit dog 04-25-2007, 09:15 AM Drove a LMM CHevy CC/SB this weekend as well. It was the LT1? pkg. Cloth seats, no power seats, but well appointed otherwise. The power didn't impress me, but it only had 8mi on it, still real tight. Felt about the same acceleration wise as my 02 stock. It didn't wind up real qiuck, but the engine only had 1.5hrs on it.
Rode/drove the same as any other DMax, IMO. Sticker was $46,xxx, which didn't seem too out of line, considering the sticker on my 02 was $44,xxx, similar options except power seats in the 02.
Nice truck overall.
Oh, and the fuel filter looked to be harder to get to than the older models. Also the fancy exhaust tip, megaphone looked like it wouldn't last a week off road.
JhnZ71 04-25-2007, 09:34 AM Ive heard nothing but good reviews about this truck, I am considering a trade... seriously.
CHORETHORIOUS 04-25-2007, 02:22 PM Well, it is still far too early for any major problems to arise JhnZ71. If you are just going off others comments on the truck, I would wait 6-8 months. You'll get a good feel for any TSB and user comments on the truck by then. So far though, I have to say it is one of the best vehicles I've driven. I can't wait to get a few additions on it and start to the river this summer.

I "bought" the truck as soon as the dealer was able to sell it as it had just been built and he had the VIN. This they consider "delivery" as I questioned it as well. Signed up for the financing so 0$ out of pocket. This happened for me luckily 2 days before the March incentives expired. My first payment will be due off of the purchase date and not delivery so Ive already owned the truck for 3 weeks, but who cares- By the way dealer has the truck as of today! and am waiting for the add-ons to be installed, ready to drive it off the lot tomorrow...bout time!

I trade in every 3 years to I am waiting for the 2008's and see how the LMM pans out in the meantime. Mine is just getting broke in and now I'm thinking about trading.
rcpd34 04-26-2007, 07:20 AM Congrats!
tony_h 04-26-2007, 11:27 AM I enjoy reading all of the posts here about those ready to trade in. I am living vicariously through those of you with money enough to do so and tolerance to go through DPF issues (not to mention that tailpipe).
If there are no problems, I am keeping my LBZ for 12 years. Does what it is supposed to. That is, pull my travel trailer with me and my family in comfort - better than a PSD...
Are there really people willing to get rid of a LBZ with negligible power differences just for the new, shiny version of government control (DPF, etc.)? I love my truck (coming from a tooth-rattling, lumbar-displacing 24-valve Cummins) and it is going to stay in the family for some time.
What are some of you planning to do when the rumored new version of the Duramax comes out with the bump in displacement?
But to those of you with the new LMM, congratulations and I hope you like it.
Farmer Dave 04-26-2007, 12:24 PM I generally get a new truck every 5 years, so it works out good for me that I can get a new style. I would have waited another year if I had to though. There is no possible way I would ever sell a 3 year or newer truck to have the new shiny one, but that's me. I'd like to buy a new truck every 2 or 3 years but the depreiciation would kill me. Companies are always bringing out new things to entice people to buy new products which we don't really need but want. As you get older you realize you can't have everything and should be HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. I think my dad told me that alot when I was young.

I am still learning this and it is proving to be an expensive lesson.:smashfrea
FROGMAN524 04-27-2007, 11:45 AM what is this rumor about a dmax with a bump in displacement?
D/AChris 04-27-2007, 12:08 PM Rumored to be a new Duramax when the 2010 standards are enforced. Harder emission standards needed to be met then. So far, only Dodge's 6.7 CTD has been publically announced to meet the 2010 standards. The Duramax is rumored to be around 400HP and 800ft/lbs of torque. Again, all of this is nothing more than rumor at this point. Who knows though, could come true. Chris

I just drove the SMAE thing.. :)
Here is my impression. I've been on this site for about 2 years and love it. Before today I've NEVER driven a Dmax EVER. the last diesel I drove was a 93 ford that was WORN out LOL. I currently have an 05 1/2 ton Z71 Burb.
1. OK I agree with the above quote, the power was not overwhelming, but it only had 6.1 miles on the odomiter.
2. i DID NOT honk on it too much, I could tell there was more power there than I was using
3. The throtle felt very (I'm not too sure how to describe it) disconected and required ALOT of effort to mash down.
4. This thing drove like a TANK LOL !!!! The front felt very heavy, but not in a bad way mind you.
5. I loved the manual shifting with the allison.
6. it was quiet, but you still knew it was a diesel. It sounded like a "refined diesel.
I know it's not going to drive and feel the same as my burb, I did not expect that. BUT I loved it, and I'm deffinatly gonna get the wife up in it with me (without the sales man (I do not want to beat on the truck, but I feel more comfortable without Mr. sales man in it) and see how we (she) likes it.
I just need to get them to let me drive the CC/LB with tow mirrors, cause that's almost Exactly what I'm looking for. I agree with some of the people here I've got sticker shock, but for me I'll end up driving this truck into the ground, so I'm willing to get EXACTLY what I want LOL If I've gotta drive it for the next 10-15 years, I'll pop for the extras.
DURAMAX3500 04-29-2007, 10:56 AM the new trucks are really sweet
dahnoo 06-19-2007, 06:39 PM Mine listed at 54K. I got it down to 36K with my '03 Avalanche (86000 miles). 0% financing. But - then I added the 100K bumper to bumper 5 yr / GPS Security (guidepoint) / folded in the tax - (hey 0%). This will take me to my grave. Bury me in it. Actually I'll own it in 3 years.

Wow i would have laughed and left! I got a GMC with leather interior and all the options in my sig for a little over 45k! it stickered for 50k

What did you wind up paying for the truck not including your trade? Do you know how close to invoice you were?
xeonpro 06-19-2007, 09:36 PM I am still learning this and it is proving to be an expensive lesson.:smashfrea
Yea...I'm also still learning this :-\ but the sticker shock on the new one may help me wait a little, but I doubt it = )
dahnoo 06-19-2007, 09:45 PM He immediately knocked 4k off the sticker. I got 14K for the Avalanche with no air conditioning (couldn't be fixed after 3 tries).
Dave
Additional - I should add that there wasn't a vehicle that interested me in their stock. The trucks that were in were pretty skimpy at best - listing at 35K. Reason being is that this used to be a dealership that didn't sell many HD trucks. They didn't have the space to accomodate them. Then they recently moved down the road to a GMC dealership that sold out - a huge lot with much more room. The truck sales guy had been the previous GMC dealer and so he had a good many connections on the East Coast - took 3 days to get a truck I was interested in. I wasn't intered in a loan other than 0%. My loan was approved earlier but there was no truck to be had locally. He was calling me at 8PM for three nights letting me know what he found. Finally he found my dream truck in CT. THe unit had ust came in (built May 18th).
wurk_truk 06-20-2007, 12:34 AM I am right now seeing if GMAC will approve a loan for a loaded LTZ CC 2500SB. I have LB7 in C4500 and detuned LBZ in duramax van. Time to move up and let someone else drive van.... what better ride for me!
I will keep this about 2-300,000 miles, so I hope it lasts! (should!)
Have good standing deal... I get invoice. Sure there are better deals than that, but that is good enough for me. Waiting to see what July 4th incentives are, and then....NEW TRUCK! :D:D:D
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read through this thread and I can't believe what some of you guys are telling me. $50k+ stickers, on extra cabs......... Paid $47k!
Anaheim Chevrolet!! I bought mine through Jay Photoglou who is a buddy, but gives the same price to everyone. Mine had a $48,700 sticker. 2500HD 4x4 Duramax LT2 black on black leather with all the options. I paid $40,700! And he delivered it to my door and gave me top dollar for my trade!
Call him and or refer anyone you know looking! Even after taxes and transfer charges to AZ I still saved!
SummitRev 06-26-2007, 04:38 PM FWIW, I had to make the decision a few weeks ago - new LMM or new LBZ. I stickered up a leather 07 LMM at 51k USD + some change, pre-tax, vs. a very compariable 07 LT3 2500 LBZ, CC/SB, which stickered at 47k+. Both had onstar, XM, the LBZ had roof markers and 5th wiring. No nav.
Difference is - I could buy the LBZ for just under 37k (before taxes, trades, etc.), but after the 07 rebates, through the GMFF (employee program). I decided to skip the PDF drama and did the LBZ. Figured I could drive it for a year and push it off, worst case, and still do very well. Just my particular situation - latest chassis wasn't as important to me, given the cash and PC issues at stake. But, the new LMM body and features was whispering to me to come back, come back... Best to those who have jumped on it. I have no regrets, yet...
