Any opinions on what to do with the Edge Evolution while towing heavy loads? I've read not to tow in the "tow mode", which is pretty humorous, but I digress. Will I be ok with a 12k + load in mode 1 or should I reprogram to stock before towing?
Thanks.

I have not towed yet with my EVO installed. When I do it will be either a Boy Scout trailer at a couple of thousand pounds (no worry) or it will be my tractor at around 11,000 pounds (worry). Even on level 1 with nothing in tow, I can see EGT's going over a thousand without any heavy foot on my part, particularly going up hills. These are the same hills I will be going up with my 11,000 pound tractor!
I run larger tires so I don't like the idea of going back to stock because then I can't correct for my non standard tires.
This is why I have mentioned, as others also have, that the EVO needs to be able to correct for tires AND run the stock tune.
Edge are you listing?:)

Thanks for the input, and while I'm on the topic, if in fact it's ok to tow some level of load behind the truck in level one, is the tow/haul mode off limits, how do the shifting changes, etc. affect the evo and vice versa?

I have towed 12-15k behind my truck with the EVO on level 2 @ 65-75 mph. EGT's did get above 1350 a couple of times on hills or when accelerating to pass on the interstate. They would run a consistent 1200+. It was a gooseneck loaded with hay so it was not a high load. If you are pulling a 5'er, your egt's will be higher than what I had due to the wind resistance.
BTW, power is not a problem :D .

when i tow my 31ft gooseneck with my 9k tractor and a few other items on it probably max of 15k pounds, i run it on level 1, mostly just to be safe on the tranny, from wat i understand the new level 1 add little to no power. t/h is nice bc it will increase pressure and decrease the chance of slip. i also like it becuase of the automatic downshifting to help stoppping. i also have larger tires so stock isnt really an option. but when i tow lighter weights like my 18ft car trailer and jeep i will try it on level 2.

When I pull 12K I have tried level 2 and put it in T/H but sometimes I even manually shifted to reduce EGTs and some times I just had to slow down because the temps were over 1400. I don't use Level 2 anymore because the tranny after 60miles would start shifting funny. Really hard and then not change gears for maybe 2 seconds(seems like forever). The tranny is getting destroyed with that kind of power. My tranny doesn't shift very well anymore and now it seems to slip empty on Level 3. I find even on Level 1 I can touch 1400 degrees and I don't like the timing when it was cold when pulling this kind of load. But I didn't want to program to stock because of the tire calibration. It is nice to know how fast you are going. It is easy to forget that the speedo is 8% or whatever off and then get a speeding ticket that I don't need or just drive too fast with that kind of load. WIth my Quad I just ran the 70hp tune it got better fuel mileage towing it ran nice and strong but I still don't think there is a perfect tune for towing heavy yet.
I am told this should happen soon though. They will be releasing new tunes!
