I have a good buddy that is about to order a new 3/4 ton truck. He is a Ford guy:eek:. Ya, I know...
Anyway, he has been looking at the new 6.4 Powerjoke. I even went with him when he test drove it. He knows I will point out all the flaws. Well, he liked the Ford but got a bad case of sticker shock when he saw the 56K price tag. He has ridden in my truck for the last two years and really likes my LLY, but has a thing for Ford that I just can't seem to get him to let go of. He told me he does not like the look of the new GM HDs and was asking about being able to still order an 07' Classic. I told him I didn't think you could still order the Classic because the LMM was already in production. He called "Dave Smith Motors" in Idaho and they told him he could still order the LBZ. A loaded LBZ SLT came to 38K (approx.). They did not tell him how much longer he would be able to order the LBZ classic. I am having a hard time believing you can still order one.
Here is my question. Please don't guess at the answer. I only need to know from people that know for sure. Can my buddy still order an 07' Classic LBZ 2500? If so, how much longer will he be able to do so?
Until I know for sure, I am going to try to get him to test drive a new LMM to compare to the 6.4 Powerstroke

I work at a GMC dealer in Minnesota and according to our local GM sales rep you can no longer order the classic style, however there are still a ton of classics still availible all over the U.S. so just find a dealer near you and work out a dealer trade for what you want but be a little flexible on the options.

Thanks for the response...sort of what I was thinking. I am going to give "Dave Smith Motors" a call and ask the same question my buddy did. See if they give me the same answer. If they say I can order one I will have them prove it buy requesting several options. My buddy wants a certain color with certain specific options. He will probably not find it on any lot but I can start looking. I told him to just buy a new loaded LMM. He says he doesn't care for the new body style. I really don't think he has see one other than in pictures. I will drag him down to the dealer in the next couple of weeks and make him test drive one. Then we can go back to the Furd Stealer and compare with the 6.4. I think he will go with the GMC if I can just get him to take a test drive.
Anyone else got any more information on my original post???
Thanks again for the reply.

Knowing dealers, they will certainly tell you that they can still 'order' a classic. They want to keep the sale and they know that there are still so many classics out there sitting on lots that they have an excellent chance of finding exactly or almost exactly what your friend is looking for and making a trade with another dealer. Either that, of they have a salesman that doesn't know much (imagine that!).

If you want you can post a reply with the exact equipment you want and I'll do a nationwide search on our GM website and I can post the results for you shortly. To make this deal even better I can get you all of the exact pricing info you need on the original invoice! Just remember that the trading dealer doesn't have to give up that truck to your dealer. please let me know so I can help you out. Just to let you know, I've been a GMC truck manager for almost ten years and I do know what I'm talking about!

I hope your luck with Dave Smith is better than mine. I walked in one day, was ready to buy a truck, and they didn't take me seriously because of my age.
After lowballing my trade by roughly $3500, they wouldn't deal...at all. When I politely informed them my local podunk MT dealer was willing to sell an identical new truck for the same price yet give me $3500 more on my trade, they laughed and told me they were going to sell 100 pickups that week whether I bought one or not.
Apparently you need to be important to get a good deal through Dave Smith...

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to post exactly what he's looking for so we can all keep our eyes out for one. My local Chevy dealer only has one base model left, but the GMC dealer has quite a few.

I talked to my buddy last night. He says he is really leaning toward the GMC Classic LBZ since Ford recalled the 6.4 this weekend:D . He said it will be two months before he is ready to buy. Our geographic location reduces a lot of our options. I have dealt with Dave Smith in the past and have always found them to have great pricing compared to Alaska dealers. You have to see how much more vehicles cost up here to understand. Going with Dave Smith can easily save $5,000 above a local Alaskan dealer's best price. That includes the $1660 shipping charge we have to pay to get the truck shipped to Anchorage from Dave Smith. I am still trying to get him to go look at a new LMM. He said he might head over today to test drive a Chevy 2500 LMM. He has to go to the Chevy dealer if he wants me to go since I am no longer welcome at the local GMC dealer anymore. Last time I was there, I caught them in a lie about the value of my trade-in. They tried to screw me out of $4,500 on my trade. I almost punched the fat SOB behind the desk. They were about to call the cops when I left. Funny thing, they never called me back to see if I was still interested in buying the new 1500 GMC truck I had ordered for my wife:rolleyes: . Anyway, That is a whole different story that I don't want to think about.
I will see what my buddy wants to do. Thanks for all the offers to help. I will let you know if he wants to go that route. Thanks again.
