Wait I see a lot of LBZ parts which is 360hp shouldn't it be about 340hp?
The Neens 03-31-2007, 11:23 PM I'll give you a dollar if it's over 361...
DMAXBOB 03-31-2007, 11:24 PM Congrats on the new motor. Sounds like you got all the tricks done. I assume your still going to be running the 42r? BTW when is the dyno time coming? I am going to throw a guesstimate out there and say 850 to 900rwhp. And please explain the 626 name if its not too top secret.:p:

How about this is the 2nd 6.6 liter motor that will be in the truck, hence 626?
Nothing that simple, I am sure.

McRat 03-31-2007, 11:52 PM LBZ reluctor wheel with one tooth ground off
Why?
The reluctor wheel on an LLY/LB7 has 57 teeth, on a 60 tooth (6 deg) pattern. The LBZ has 58 teeth.
Don't quote me, I'm going off memory. I ordered an LLY reluctor, and GM sent me a LBZ, so we had to grind it off or wait 2 weeks again.

We are going to start with the GT42R and see how far we can take it. If it proves to be too small, I'll fix it. ;)

Yeah I said 626 out loud and the little cousin said like "stitch" from Lilo and Stitch(???). I thought that 626 sounded familiar (other than the car).
Best of luck to you with it and keep us posted.

You have to be a parent to get it. Since the motor is a lot of differnet parts "stitched" together to make a formidable engine, it does make sense.
Congrats Pat and Kat. So Casper is now going to be Stitch? Does that make Wendy "Lilo" now?
I'm thinking Nasty and Maddog just got some serious competition. Maybe a 3(or 4?)-way competition at Merchants?

It's bad enough that I feel the need to name our vehicles, now I'm giving individual names for the freakin' parts!!
I think there will be several really competitive trucks by the time Merchant's rolls around. I'm not looking for 1000hp though. I'm going to focus on ET's with Casper.
MAX707 04-01-2007, 02:43 PM Pat/Kat that is ****** AWSOME!!!   . I'm so jealous:p: . I'm very happy for yall I know your gonna love it and I hope you have a blast.:)

If you ground only one tooth off wont the "gap" created cause problems??
How does the sensor work?? does it read how fast it goes from one tooth to the next, or just the total number of teeth as a revolution??
Wolford 04-03-2007, 12:06 AM 626 has landed ):h

Well, hopefully we find out this week. The reluctor wheel tells the computer what the crank position is, so it reads each tooth. On the LB7/LLY they remove 3 teeth to mark TDC, but on the LBZ, they remove only 2 teeth. My guess is the new computer is faster so it doesn't need as much gap to find TDC.

Oh ok. I didnt realize that they came from the factory with a gap like that. I got it now. Now your post where you said the sensors were on a 60 tooth pattern makes a lot more sense to me.

Good thing it's a West Coast truck and not a southern truck - remove 3 teeth and you wouldn't have any left:D .
In all seriousness Pat, congrats on the build. We look forward to the updated progress of the beast!
1FastMax 04-05-2007, 11:44 PM Nope, LLZ doesnt work, I got it!! LZ7, now were cookin! I don't suppose you guys have an old piston layin around do ya? Lol.
Dieselson 04-06-2007, 12:14 AM Now that is good, I will use that when we build the motor for this truck.
DuramaxPowered 04-06-2007, 12:35 PM I can't wait to hear how well this motor runs. Should be a very efficient high HP performer as well as a killer sleeper :HiHi: . Good luck.

Hopefully we will get the finishing touches put on today, and run it tomorrow in Arizona.
socaldieseltech 04-20-2007, 01:31 PM Good job, I drove past at about 11 last night and saw some trucks behind your shop. Gotta love those nights! It never gets old hearing a fresh one light off though.

McRat 04-28-2007, 05:34 AM It rev's like our Z06. Instant throttle response. 1/4 throttle feels more like a 5.3 gasser than a diesel. Very quiet at idle.
Turbo whistle is more pronounced than before. Nearly as loud as exhaust. Cruising at 600 deg EGT. Boost? Who the hell knows, I have a SPA gauge which apparently is union, it works only when it feels like it.
Kat just took it out for a spin.
ripmf666 04-28-2007, 06:19 AM ;) easy on us union guys, were not all that away :o:

It's not perfectly smooth, but Pat says it's not bad either. He went with the LBZ intake.
