I have a 2002 2500hd 6.0Liter silverado. lookin to get a new exhaust i know it has the true dual set up so im lookin to get a dual set with tips comin out at a 45 degree angle to corner of the bumper. Any idea or pics of some good kits. Thanks

if you want it loud, get some 12" glasspacks. flowmaster single chamber race mufflers sound good also. my brother has dual 12" glasspacks with 3" pipes feeding 5"x24" SS tips and it sounds awesome.

I don't know if anyone makes a kit for the true duals, but it shouldn't be hard to set up. Flowmaster is definately good for loud. I would suggest adding a x-pipe or some kind of cross-over behind the cats to even out the pipe lengths. You probably want to stay around 2-1/2", or whatever stock inlet size is, for the tailpipes to maintain good low-end torque.

I don't think it's a true dual, but I am looking at SLP's new Proflow catback for my 6.0L. I had a Magnaflow on my 03 1500 and liked that a lot, and from what research I've done the SLP has a nice big block sound with no interior resonance.

I ran Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series mufflers on my truck with that exact same setup your talkin about. It sounded really good, I would recommend that

My 2000, I put on a Flowmaster Dual in-Dual out race muffler. Real loud...nice though. Went from Dallas to Sudbury Ontario in 24hrs...ears rang for a week......:D

After that rotted off (northern climate and salt), put on a SS Gibson. Not as harsh, but still nice rumble.

Go to Gibson.com and check out their sound clips. Its been a while since I checked it, but some good stuff there.

on my old truck i put shells in for the muffler (glasspacks without the glass) so it was pretty much straight pipe. but i think the only way u can get that done is if u go to a muffler shop and have a custom exhaust built for your truck.

On my 2001 6.0 I ran 2 40 series flowmaster delta and dual 3" pipes. was very loud but lost low end power.

You should have dual pipes to the muffler, so making it true duals is easy. What I have done is to cut the pipe off at the muffler and make an H pipe setup off the vehicle. It is simple, since the two pipes are side by side. We just take two 6 inch long pieces of pipe, and drill a hole in the side of each of them, then take a very small piece of pipe and angle cut it, and weld it between the two pipes. Then we put that piece on the end of the pipes and then the two mufflers of choice, and get it all lined up and weld that. Then he bends two tail pipes. Now, what I do to balance the system further, is to switch the tail pipes so that the longest tailpipe is mated to the shortest primary pipe and vice versa. What that means is that the drivers bank of cylinders will exit out the passenger side, and vice versa. That will balance the system and will rely less on the H pipe.

Do not use anything bigger that 2.5 inch tailpipes, or you will actually hurt your performance. As exhaust passes through the exhaust system, it cools and condenses, so if you use smaller tailpipes, you create more scavenging.

I have always had a custom muffler shop do mine, because he will do it way cheaper than a kit, and does what I want. They sound really nice and the engine breathes really well. I have used this same setup on a 2002 4.8, and Ferd 4.6, a 2001 and 2006 8.1, and a 2005 1/2 ton 5.3. Works really good. Cost is about 165 dollars plus mufflers. Cheaper than most cat backs.

True duals will cost you low end TQ. The 6.0 needs some back pressure so you have to be careful. I had my factory muffler replaced with a 2 in 2 out flowmaster 40. Then ran duals straight out the back with good sized tips. It was pretty dam loud, comparable to my old 83 k1500 350 with straight dual glass packs.

Forgot to mention it was on an 01 6.0 2500HD

well thanks for all the help i think i will go with the 2.5 inch pipes to the muffler does it really matter what size i use after that. i would like to run 3 after that or who knows maybe some big *** tips to just something different i loved the look of the big exhaust of the dielels but if it gonna hurt the power of my truck then just maybe some big tips. im not gonna get a kit just buy mufflerss i got 2 shops around here that are good on price just have to decide on the pipe sizes. let me know what u gys think n thanks!!1

I think that you have dual 3 inch to the muffler already, so you really won't want to change that, just put 2.5 inch tailpipes on it and an H pipe in front of the mufflers, and criss cross your tailpipes, and you are set.

Here is a picture of the tailpipes that are criss crossed at the mufflers. This is the best picture I could get without a lift.

If you plan to get rid of the stock setup, I'd be real interested.
I have Flowmaster big block series on mine, after an off roading incident tore mine up. It sounds great outside but I can't stand the drone and want the stock setup back. PM me if your selling.

if u want loud just do a true dual setup with a x-pipe and no mufflers, the x-pipe will give u scavaging.

IM gonna run mufflers i dont want all the crackin and stuff from not runnin mufflers. I wanna just run the stock cats to 2 mufflers to dual tail pipes. i just wanna know if it matter how big the pipes can be after the muffler and if it matters.

with an x-pipe you wont have that crackling sound. magnaflow also sells a muffler that has a built in x-pipe.

I bought my truck new in december of 02. I had it at the muffler shop about a week after i got it. I went with 2 18" glass packs. It sounded great. Might be a little loud for some peoples taste, but it was just right for me. I ran that setup up until about 2 weeks ago. My glass packs started to rust so i just went back in and had them straight pipe it. Its definitely a lot louder:D

If you have a shortbed, MBRP makes a real nice true dual catback kit that sounds great. I'd have one on my truck in a heartbeat if they'd make it for a long bed crew cab, but they don't :(

I also have a 2002 2500HD with the 6.0L. I took my truck to the local muffler shop and had them set me up with a set of Ravin mufflers. They are side by side, I believe 2.5" in and 2.5" out with a set of 4" stainless tips straight out the back. Several of my friends here in town have Flowmasters on their trucks (f-150s, and two 1500 Hemi's) and mine is WAY louder... im not sure exactly what mufflers they are running other than the fact that they are flowmasters. I have had my exhaust on for two years now, and it has held up great! I would def. take a look at Ravin if you havent already.

Ok I didnt read everything so sorry if I repost something. A good friend of mine just had pipes put on his 6.0L truck yesterday. He just had a local exhaust guy take the muffler off, run true duals out to the back, but 3" tips on it. It is LOUD lol.. I mean alot louder then I thought it would be, sounds really nice though, he said the truck runs noticably better then with the stock muffler on it. Just an option. If you like LOUD then do it. You wont be disapointed.

a buddy of mine heer has the same truck as me pretty much and he runs the hooker series muflers from summit and trust me his is loud but if i run 3inch pipe after the muffler with some big ass tips probably 4 inch will it hurt the truck power wise or do i really have to stick with the smaller pipe thats my real question what size pipe can i run without lossing power

Well as long as you still have your cats you probably wont notice a loss in power. You dont need 3" duals though. 2.5 will be plenty for a naturally aspirated 6.0L If it were my truck I would run 2.5 duals through a spintech muffler with 3.5-4" tips.
