ok I now I'm being a cheap skate but:D I have loads of good clean used a/c rads that I don't use cos we don't get hot enough weather to bother with a/c, is there any reason I couldn't use one as a trans cooler? it'd be big, wouldn't have any probs mounting it cos it was made to have an a/c rad in there, and it wouldn't cost me a penny. would it work???????

Yeah, I think it would work just fine. I would think the inside of an air conditioner is certainly cleaner than the inside of an automatic transmission so as long as it hasn't gotten contaminated while sitting it should be fine. It might be a bit of overkill, but I don't think that will hurt anything. It will hold a lot of fluid, though...
I think I've heard of people doing that before but I can't remember where...
with a 700R4 in a big dually I'm expecting trouble especially with our 27" caravan on tow hence I want a really big cooler, it currently has the one in the rad plus a small one and the return pipe gets far too hot to hold when towing.
