Ok, I've had it with this damn seat memory controller that refuses to remember anything. I've accidentally bumped the memory button, or the easy exit button several times this year and the seat never goes back to the same position. It's totally random, every time I press the button the seat goes somewhere else.

My question is, how to I disable the memory function for the seats? I want to be able to press the memory buttons and have the seat remain in it's current location. Can this be done while not causing the electric seat adjustments to fail as well?

If I were still under warranty I'd take the truck in, every single day and have it lemon lawed over this problem! Seriously, bump the damn controls while driving and I'm crammed into the steering wheel it's dangerous!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Been there several times, Go to the DIC and you can disable some of the features. I bumped my a couple of times and when i was moving forward starting to get carmped up to the steering wheel I just hit the reverse on the seat controls and it stopped dead. Dealer told me that if it continued I would need to replace the module. If you have to just unplug the seat and let it ride at current positon

mine kept resetting too. thing that pissed me off the most was when i put my 06 towing mirrors on about a month after they kept resetting to diffrent points. dealer had to reprogram my bcm to make them work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Had the same issue with my 05' LLY. Took it to the dealer and they searched recall notices and service bulletins. They found that GM SUVs had issues with seats keeping memory but no issue with their trucks. Just like you, my issue was totally random. They ended up re-flashing the seat memory computer and I have had zero issues since. Mine was done under warranty so it cost me nothing. Ask your dealer to check under SUV seat memory problems. They may hook you up without any additional cost to you. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip on the DIC, I had forgotten you can disable the easy exit mode that makes one problem down. Unplugging the seat to remove the memory problem has it's own set of issues for me, at 6'4” I'm over a foot taller than my poor wife who infrequently drives the truck but on the occasions she does at my seat adjustment she cannot reach the pedals. Maybe I'll insert a toggle switch which cuts the power to the seat, but she can switch it back on when she needs to move/drive the truck when I'm out of town.

Anyone do anything like that before? Anyone have a pin-out of the seat controller that I could look at to see how I could perform such a mod?

As for having the dealer flash the truck for the seat, I haven't contacted any dealers around here and likely won't as I'm unwilling to pay a technician to diagnose the problem, then flash the truck on my dime when this is a known issue GM should fix even if the vehicle is out of warranty. I'm not freeloading mind you, as I know I'm out of warranty and with that if another part of the vehicle failed say an axle seal I'd know I need to fix it on my dime. However this, as well as things like the steering shaft rattle and overheating with the LLY (though they won't admit to the latter) are long term on-going issues that GM knows about and should continue to work on resolving and once done should for customer loyalty fix the issue on their dime.
/rant off

Any other ideas on removing the dunce cap and giving these stupid seats a full frontal lobotomy would be greatly appreciated :D

I really don't like to bump my own threads, as such I'll let this thread die if there is no response.

No one out there has ever attempted to disable the faulty memory feature of the power seats while keeping the power operation of the seats working?
