I am working on my father-in-laws 1995 GMC 3/4 ton Truck. The truck will die, or not start intermittantly. Seems to be temp related. It has 6.5l Diesel. He has replaced the fuel filter, air filter, and oil sending unit. It is not exhibiting any of the tach/guage problems associated with the bad ignition switch (I've read about).


Any idea's on where to start. It "feels" like a fuel starvation problem. The computer has no error codes.

When the PMD/FSD (fuel solenoid driver) goes out the injection pump doesn't inject any fuel. Do a search for PMD/FSD, and you will read all about it.


Solution: Mount a replacement out of the engine bay, off the pump.


My solution: I made a cooling plate and 3.5' extension harness and mounted it in front of the radiator.
