I know this 1093 code this gets about a million hits when searched (I have read most of them), but he home page keeps chastising me for not posting in awhile.
I have had the truck for about a month, 127K miles – Bone stock. I hooked up to my 6000LB travel trailer a few weeks ago to bring it home to get ready for a trip to Bristol. Got a check engine light, had the parts store scan the code, 1093, searched it here, changed the fuel filter, code went away. It felt good to fix the thing myself!
I picked up the TT again last week. As soon as I started towing, the check engine light comes back on. Drop the TT, drive to and from work a few times, no code. Tow some more – code. Drive it without towing – no code. Tow from Raleigh to Bristol, code but no problems towing. When I got home, I had the truck scanned before the code went away
P1093 Manf Cntrl Fuel&Air Metering, Auxiliary Emission Controls
The code went away on my drive home from the parts store. The parts store guy said check for vacuum leaks – said I could spray a little carb cleaner around the lines with the engine idling. If the RPM’s go up, I found my leak.
Is this guy nuts? I don’t my truck to go BOOM!
We are camping again over Easter. I am planning on taking my truck to the shop when we get back. Should I get this looked at before I tow again?
