I know this 1093 code this gets about a million hits when searched (I have read most of them), but he home page keeps chastising me for not posting in awhile.

I have had the truck for about a month, 127K miles – Bone stock. I hooked up to my 6000LB travel trailer a few weeks ago to bring it home to get ready for a trip to Bristol. Got a check engine light, had the parts store scan the code, 1093, searched it here, changed the fuel filter, code went away. It felt good to fix the thing myself!

I picked up the TT again last week. As soon as I started towing, the check engine light comes back on. Drop the TT, drive to and from work a few times, no code. Tow some more – code. Drive it without towing – no code. Tow from Raleigh to Bristol, code but no problems towing. When I got home, I had the truck scanned before the code went away

P1093 Manf Cntrl Fuel&Air Metering, Auxiliary Emission Controls

The code went away on my drive home from the parts store. The parts store guy said check for vacuum leaks – said I could spray a little carb cleaner around the lines with the engine idling. If the RPM’s go up, I found my leak.

Is this guy nuts? I don’t my truck to go BOOM!

We are camping again over Easter. I am planning on taking my truck to the shop when we get back. Should I get this looked at before I tow again?

Truck dosen't have a "lope" at idle, like you have a cam in it? If you do I would suspect the FPR valve is bad. Mine would set it when towing and "limp" changed the fpr out and all is good.

My Hypertech was giving me the same code a couple of weeks ago, took to dealer, they replaced injectors (their cost) & Injector pump (my cost).

Truck runs great now :D

I had always read the p1093 code as low fuel rail pressure during power enrichment. I had not heard the aux emission part before. Mide has thrown that code for as long as I have owned it (30k miles). When I had my water pump replaced, I told the dealer about the code. (had to use the buddy has a tech 2 line to hide the hyperpack code read. Wish I really did have a buddy with one in the San Antonio area .....hint, hint) They said if I did not have fuel in the oil, not to worry about it, as it is just one of the codes that are thrown when the injectors go bad. But assured me, as soon as I do, that they will get it taken care of for me. Kinda makes me wonder how much better it will run if I do get them replaced and if they were just stalling on the inevitable.

sounds like it could be injectors, check oil for fuel,it can fill the crankcase, and come out the puke tube ,if that happens it will cover your trailer

No ‘lope’ at idle and no limp. I will check for the oil for fuel before taking it to the dealer. Thanks for your help.

UPDATE - I finally got around to taking it to the Dealer who says injectors are fine but it needs:

Fuel Injector Pump
Turbo Hose
Turbo Coolant Hose
Coolant, Fuel Filter, Gaskets, Seals, Clamps, ETC

12.5 Hours Labor!

What do you guys think ???

My fuel Inj.pump was roughly $1300.00, I belive the mech. told me 4hrs labor. i would think the other items would be fairly easy DIY ??

Well, I paid a ton of money, but my problem seems to be fixed. I got my truck back a few weeks ago, towed my travel trailer to its new owner, and then towed my new 11k pound 5th wheel from Winston-Salem to Raleigh to Darlington to Charlotte with no issues.

Fingers crossed!

Didnt see this post earlier, I have had a few pumps that wouldnt move enough fuel and only set the code when towing. I think you will be good to go.

Just make sure you keep the fuel filter changed every 10k or so and help the pump live.

Is it a good investment to add a lift pump?? Im hoping this will cure my limp mode towing problems. I only have the problem with the tuner on (70 or 90hp)....never in stock. Sounds like this will help the cp3 in keeping the fuel pressure up??
