Just trying to get some tools together for my 6.5 and I notice that there are several type of injector removal tools. Can anyone tell me what removal tool is recommended for the 6.5T. Manufacturer, part number (if available), and price would be helpful. Thanks all!

I have the OTC injector socket and it worked fine. Lots of guys swear by the snap-on socket and lots of guys have just used a 30mm deep impact socket.
Sorry no part numbers.

I pretty sure the socket I use is a 1 3/16" deep impact socket.

Thanks for the info! Glad an ol' socket will work just fine! :D

Not necessarily ... it has to be deep enough to reach the bottom of the injector without impacting the top, and it also has to be constant radius ... a lot of sockets are thicker above the facets (meaning smaller diameter)... they won't fit over the return nipples, although the facets will.

Last time I changed my injectors I used a 30mm 1/2" drive deep impact socket. But it was long. I had to grind a bevel on the drive end to allow it to squeeze in next to the exhaust manifold on the passenger side. And I had to remove the turbo to fit it in there.
I didn't want to do that again when I started troubleshooting a bad injector so I bought a 30mm injector socket from NAPA. BOY was that worth it! It's a full 3/4" shorter than the deep socket I used. Plus it was 3/8 drive, so it fit directly on the appropriate torque wrench without an adapter. I could remove and install injectors on the passenger side without having to remove the turbo. That alone is worth the 50 odd dollars they run.
I found one at NAPA Part # 700-2470. Got it for $47.

Well i just finished the injectors last night. I used 30mm axle nut socket from autozone $12, a break bar, 3 foot piece of hollow pipe for extra torque and a can of your best penetrating oil. oh and an extention magnet. the magnet really help postino the injectors and back glow plug in the tight spots.
