Hi folks,
A guy here at work has an 8.1/Allison and he's all hopped up to get a Hypertech. Besides monkeying with the engine, he said that he would be able to change "shift points and line pressure."
So I went to the Hypertech site and indeed it does appear to let you adjust shift points (by RPM) and "shift firmness."
I am not thinking of buying one, but was just curious to hear from the tech experts, what is the programmer doing to change shift points and firmness? What is the box telling the Alli to do? And is that going to help or hurt its reliability?
I did a search in this forum about Hypertech and found zero....kinda odd, would have thought someone would have guinea-pigged it by now.
My Alli seems to respond well to added power and learns reasonbly fast, so I can't understand why anyone would really "need" this extra programming. If it were a crappy shifting trans in the first place, well, that would be a different story....
Thanks in advance, MatEdited by: nwpadmax
