I'm going to the desert this weekend. Probably towing around 7,000 pounds. Would I be alright on the trans leaving it on the 60hp tune or should I go to the 40hp or back to stock? I have a stock trans and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.

Thanks,

Andy

Try reading the manaul that came with your predator. Pretty sure it'll give you weight limits in there.

I wouldnt tow anyting on the 85 tune personally and wouldnt go above 8000 lbs or so on the 65 tune.

you should be fine, but i would double check with the predator manual. it tells you what tunes you can tow with certain weights.

It only says that it recommends not towing with the 85 tune and up. I'm just worried about the stock trans.

I always dropped mine to stock for towing anything more than 3000 lbs. I always never ran anything higher than 40. I'm pretty protective over my ally.

I tow 8600 lbs and leave mine on level 2 (65 HP) and have not had a problem.

Just watch your pyro.

If you do go over any major hills, don't drag race while towing and leave your Allison in overdrive locked-out all should be good.

Just got back yesterday. I think it towed alright. The shifts were a lot different towing. Especially 2nd to 3rd. That shift was always horrible. Anybody know what causes his? I also notice the power when I'm not towing, but not so much when I am towing.

I towed about 9000 lbs with my 04.5 LLY with Hypertech on level 3. My EGT's never got crazy and the shifts were so smooth...Hypertech tends to defuel alot and you really feel it when there's no load but when you slap on a few tons, it was night and day.

You also probably didnt get on it did you? Thats not the best thing for a tranny, tuned, especially with a load behind it.

with my predator on 60 hp i tow all the time and it never gets over 1250 on my pyro and thats with our tandem dual flatbed with at least another 8k on it. but i do take it easy on her.
