My truck is 10 years on and the body below the door is starting to rust. I would like to fix it. I see that there are some places that sell replacement sections to just replace the common areas that rust. Wondered if anyone has done this and how easy was it? I thought years ago I saw them do it on "two guys and a garage" and it didn't look too bad. Any input would be great.
Thanks
Chris

many guys do it on trucks when their restoring them. basically you cut the cancer spot out and weld in the new piece. you will use many spot welds around the piece so not to warp the metal. if you got a good welder and your patient you will get it done. i have to do it to the rockers and cab corners on my 72

Easy job if you have a mig welder and cut off tool. A crimper would help but not necessary. A little grinding and a coat of mud and your done. ? is can you paint.

I would also recommend buying some weld through primer (available at autobody supply shops.) It will help the patch from rusting out as fast.

Got the mig welder and cut off tool, but painting is something I haven't tried yet. May have to get some help on that one.
Thanks guys
Chris
I would Metal bond it. Metal Bond is a great product if used correctly. It would make a beter and quicker job. It also will prevent future corrosion in the flange or pinchweld area. Just a thought

X2, never gave it a thought. I have used it in the past and works very well. It is a little costly but a huge time saver.:)
