I have read old posts saying that not all transmission filters work properly because of the magnet blocking the holes. was wondering if anyone has tried Napa filters? need to change the filter but cannot wait for an allison filter.

This has just become a sticky subject. If you are worried about the NAPA spin-on filter, leave the magnet off till you get an Allison filter. Price is cheap and no harm will happen till you get the filter you want. I am going to do a teast on this shortly and see.

If a filter was restricing stuff in any way wouldnt you slip or limp the thing in short order especially at the begining of the change if the ally hadnt adapted.

Joe puts a SPX filter with all the Suncoast kits... I put on alot of them filters with no ill effects. Yes, I do agree it looks like it could be a problem, but I have no proof otherwise.

I ran a Wix on my Alli for 10000 miles. ( I will change every 10K )

No apparent problems, but I do prefer to use Allison filters. I try to keep one, or two on the shelf.
