Not sure where to post this so I thought I would start here. I was replacing the bulb in my rear dome light and everything went fine so i thought. The cab lights come on when I open the door and shut off when I close the door, however when I try to manually turn the light on (push the button) they don't work. The dome over-ride isn't on, the underhood fuse was good. The bed light won't work either and not the indicator light on the dash that usually only illuminates when I turn the bad light on, is on all the time even though the bed light isn't. Any ideas what to check next??

you probably know all this, so I apologize but it took me a while to try and guess mine out. I've got an 02 and maybe it's different. I have the auto head lights and on my dash is the manual head light switch. Next to it is the verticle scroll wheel that I can adjust my dash lights and manually turn on my dome / bed light. My push button marked dome override - if I push it 4 times will prevent my head lights from coming on automaticlly and shut them off if they are not on manually. If I push the button an odd number of times it effects how the dome lights work with the door being open/closed. I have never taken the time to really figure out all it does or read the owner guide......probably not that simple but if it's of any help........Bill

I wasn't aware of any sequence with the override button so I tihnk I will mess with that a bit. Thanks for the info.
mpdlt TTT stands for To The Top! I dunno about others but usually im lazy to look at more than 3-4 pages so once my post gets that far back with no response I use TTT to bring it back to the first page.

The override thing was for the auto headlights on the 2002-older
trucks, yours
being an 03 should have the switch that lets you shut them off so the
dome override thing won't work. I know it doesn't do anything on my 04.
On my 2000 I never got any odd stuff from the dome light when I pressed
it an uneven number of times to shut the headlights off, it just either
override the dome light, or not depending if it was in or out.

_NAR_, on mine, if I push it on odd number - in one "position" the dome light will turn on and off with the door open and closed. In the other, the dome light will turn on when I open the door and stay on with a timer after I close it. The time is maybe 60 seconds or so. I don't know if it has any other functions built into it or not. I remember when I read through my owners manual there where all these different features etc. Resetting the oil monitor system, which door locks operate when going from Park into gear and versa visa. Nice things - but to much to remember....Bill

When my bed light wouldn't work (neither did the interior lights for that matter) it turned out to be a bad headlight switch. Don't know if that will help you or not.

I would second what chuntag said, in my 2000 it fried two lights
switches, one wouldn't turn the dash lights on, the other wouldn't do
anything... So it very well could be that...
