I have had to replace 3 glowpluggs in the last month. I have about 67k on the truck and have never heard of this being a problem with anyone else. The local dealer told me he can't remember the last time he had to do a glowplugg on a D-max. Anyone else running into problems and or know of a good aftermarket replacement. I really hate buying anything from the dealer cause you are getting raped with a smile.

I've had all eight replaced within the last 8 months. Five were under warranty, three out of pocket.
Had module, wires, all glow plugs replaced today. Module and wires were under extended warranty but the plugs were not cost about 400 bucks at the dealer, what a screwing.

not trying to jack the thread but how do u know the plugs are going bad? its in the 80's here and in the morning and after i get off work it stays on for 5-10 sec. and my dad has an 04 lly and it doesnt come on, and in the winter it only is on for a sec or 2, when mine is on for 10-15. so could this be a sign of bad glowplugs? or is how all lb7's are?

Just had one replaced today (74K miles, '03 LB7), covered under 100K emissions warranty, $100 deductible waived. Throws a P0380 code when glow plug malfunctions.

Mine had the controller and one plug changed whn I bought the truck (127K) Now (130k) the P0380 code is back. Searching now to see how I can check the plugs myself and/or how mush $ and how hard to change the plugs will be. Any input will be appreciated.

Is there a manual (chiltons does not have anything for 02hd) of some type that illistrates how to change the glow plugs. I have searched and found nothing or perhaps I missed it. I am more of a do it yourself person and besides I am past the 100K warranty.
Any help would be Appreciated.

Dieselmaniac,
Glow plugs are covered under the 100k emission warranty should cost you $0.
I got a check engine lite at 78k, was told I had 3 bad plugs and controller was shot, they replaced all 8 and the controller for $0.

So it is like changing spark plugs?
Anything special you have to do? What did you torque them down to?
Thanks

I have a 2001. Does the 100k emissions warranty still cover replacement or is it a 100k or 5 year deal?

So, I changed all eight glow plugs today and it still throws the p380 code. My question is what's next to change and how much is it?
Thanks for helping,
Carlos
