thanks

Ok, here is another question. The tranny in my truck has 85,000 miles and the fluid has never been changed. The external trans. filter has been changed every oil change. Should it be changed?

I would take that rating as a reflection on the other components in the vehicle. Tires, wheels, etc as being the limiting factor in this rating.

This same basic tranny is used in school buses, concrete trucks, and even tanks. Not sure of the weight of a concrete truck when loaded, but the ones I see around here have 66,000 lb plates on them.

The tests I have seen indicate that this tranny is designed to last 500,000 miles or more while moving a load of 70,000 lbs or more.

Don't worry about it braking, it is an Allison.

 As I sit with an 05 Dmax in the driveway with a blown tranny. Take care of your Allison and protect it if power modding!

It's all relative to how you drive, your PM schedule, etc. The best out there yes,but not bulletproof.
