610 lb-ft torque at 1600rpms.

Ford and GM both claim the most powerful diesel, yet the Cummins beats them both!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Why didn't it win the stock pull off?

If you mean the Dodge... the 610 is for 05 and really isn't enough to make a difference.

To be honest with ourselves... how many of us go out and buy these trucks based on who won a magazine pulloff? I knew darn well when I bought my Dodge it wasn't the leader in speed or pulloffs. But it is a leader in strength and longevity.

One thing that I have noticed in vehicles, If you line 2 up exactly the same one will run better than the other. My wife and her mother had 2 pontiac Grand Ams they were the same year, motor and everything. Her mother's would flat run off and leave hers.

Strength & Longevity ? How so and I beg to differ ! I have work orders that would change your mind in 20sec. Ah well each to his own .http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gifIMO,Drivin' a Dodge is like drinkin' a pint of spoiled milk BY MISTAKE.

Like you say, to each his own. I love my Dodge, and even though I could've bought a Ford PSD 6.0 cheaper through connections that I have, but I bought a Dodge because, as Hoot said, I was looking for the best most durable truck.

I'm sure there are many that would say the same about a GM or a Ford because they have had horrific experiences.

Broker... I got 11,500 miles so far... can't complain, even though I don't work my trucks, I still drive them every day, play with them, crawl under them, work on them and enjoy them. You do none of the above. Can't see how Dodge exists if they all were like the ones you owned.

Oh wait, I figured out one thing I don't like about this truck...

The tires aren't wide enough to put all that torque to the ground! I keep on smoking them inadvertently when taking off from stoplights! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

All years and makes have about the same amount of problems (except the ford 6.0, way more) the thing about the cummins is that the engine was built to handle more power than it's rated for. When you turn these trucks up in power the cummins has the better chance of lasting longer.

Hoot:

Would you let us know where you found the 2005 Dodge torque specs of 610 lbs. I did browse the Dodge web site, but it still had the 2004 trucks.

A friend has a 2005 Dodge truck brochure (dated 8/2004) that lists the old torque figure of 600 ibs. Looks like Dodge decided to up the number after GM announced their 605 lb figure.

Thanks.

went by sharret gm dodge last night. that 05 dodge was still there, and on the window sticker it said cummins(R) 600 turbo diesel. this was where the engine was listed as an option. did not look under the hood, but i would asssume? that it is still 600 lbs torque. hoot, keep us posted if you find out otherwise. wil

I will post what I find out but I believe dodge will keep the "600" name even if they spec 610. If you think about it, giving a name to an engine based on actual torque is a problem when you increase those numbers. What do you do, rename the engine every time you change the specs?

Bottom line... not a big deal... 10 lbs. Don't get a wedgy over it. It just makes good conversation, you agree?Edited by: hoot

I know GM is equally guilty, but it makes one wonder how Dodge could test these last minute '05 tuning changes. Oh that's right, that's what the public is for. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
