I have just purchased a 2007 2500HD classic with the Duramax/Allison package. It came with the standard 245/75/16 which i didnt like so i put some BFG 285/75/16 on it which make it look great but a former chevrolet dealer employee who has owned allisons in the past told me that changing the tire size on the truck from original equipment will void the transmission warrenty. Is this true or is the guy just full of it? Thanks for any help.

He is full of it.
They havent said anything to me with 285's and different wheel's.
If they do hassle you, just go to a different dealer.

I have talked to many dealers. They can void your warranty, only on diesels though. 100,000 mile warranty lasts longer with bigger tires. thats all I have heard. I keep a set of factorys in the garage for warranty issues. I rarely see HD pickups with 245's anymore. kind of bull SH** to me. But if my tranny goes out, I would rather put the 245's on, than spend $$ out of my pocket. But some dealers don't care.

Probably only be an issue if you didn't have a good relationship with your dealer and they were looking for a reason to screw you.

Take the tires off if you have to got to the dealer. Problem solved.

Original tires have been sold. I do have a good relationship with the dealer though. I have bought over 10 vehicles from him in the past 12 years. The salesman i have delt with this whole time even mentioned a chip for more power that won't be detected by service computers. I was just wondering if this is a true warrenty issue with the allison from GM. Is there anywhere in the service manual that says it voids the warrenty?
