Are you changing your own fuel filters?

If so, what replacement filters are you using, & how long are they lasting?

I bought mine from GM, was cheaper than any of the locals and I'm doing about 15,000 between changes.

I along with a lot of other DP members change their own filters. Use the oem ACDelco fuel filter, part # 89060534. Also available from some vendors on this site, Eric at Merchant Automotive, www.gmdieseltech.com (http://www.gmdieseltech.com), for one. Depends on the fuel you use, how dirty, makes the filters last a long time, or not. Most change the filter between 5k and 12k miles....

Yes, I get them from Kennedy in the Vendor area. They are Baldwin filters. I change it every other oil change so 10k. No problems, but I havn't been cutting them open for inspection either.

Yes, NAPA, depends on how dirty your fuel is. But, best case scenario is 15K.

I use Wix, but mainly because I sell them at work and they're easiest for me to get. Change mine two or three times a year. I only put 15k miles a year on. Before the first pull of the year, and maybe once again after 15 hooks and traveling time. But I also run a Cat pre filter which I change about every two weeks in the summer time for pulling.

I use whatever I can get a good price on (usually not the dealer. $45 WTH?) Baldwin from Kennedy if I remember to order it, Napa if I need it NOW. Every other oil change so 10K. I run the Kennedy Mega as secondary, change it once a year.

Iv'e cut a few of the little ones open. Half the element is black at 10k. I don't really have a regualar fuel supplier. Major truck stops on the road, J, Pilot, TA, etc whichever is cheapest. USA or EXXON by price around home. Quite a bit of B20 as well if the price is decent. So I'd say a real mixed bag of fuel. That filter could go 15K easily I think except I'd lose track of when I was supposed to change it and end up doing every oil change. Now I just do it at 10, 20, 30, etc.

One injector so far at 23K now at 45K.

A friend used a non delco filter wix brand, it died about 20 miles from home, had it towed to dealer, they replaced filter with a delco, told him they see this quite often and to only use delco fuel filters especially.

What a CROCK!!! Wix makes an excellent filter, but more than likely it's still made by Racor,as is this dealer's precious AC/Delco.Too bad ignorance isn't a crime.
