Light the truck on fire and claim insurance - it's never gonna work :) Actually, did you ever scan for your rail pressure or inj balance or anything, just for a sanity check? Can you find an Edge or a Pred or a Hypertech or anything else to try just as a check? I just don't buy it's only the 'gun.
Anybody out there in his area willing to lend him something to test briefly? Not that I have a clue wt/hell PECATONICA is.
Did you ever talk to Bobby at HPD? While I had an [atypical] absolutely comedy-of-errors experience with them my first time; he does seem to be a fairly class act with experience.Edited by: jonb
BADDMAX396 09-10-2004, 09:42 AM I dont think i would care for the premiums after the fire, although it has crossed my mind. No, i dont have the diagnostic equipment for a gm. Everyone around here are ford boys. Pecatonica is located 20 miles west of rockford. 70 miles northwest of chicago. No i never contacted bobby, because i was under the assumption banks was going to help me.
BassinRVer 09-10-2004, 10:54 AM I sent you my predator if you want to look at the engine/fuel data. Edited by: BassinRVer

Donald McMullin 09-10-2004, 11:47 AM I read your other posts about your problem. I am assuming the following is still the case:
(a) You are not getting any fault codes from the banks 6 gun LED's.
(b) When you diconnect the 6 gun harness and run stock the engine does not overfuel and runs okay.
Before I would run off and get another box or programer I would first do the following:
(a) Check for any engine codes GM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) either with AutoTap, Predator, friendly GM dealer, or other code readers. This will only tell you if you have thrown any codes in the past either running stock or with the Banks.
(b) Disconnect Banks harness at engine, clear any codes, and run for awhile with stock program. Check for any DTC's.
(c) If any codes fix the problem before re-connecting Banks. Reconnect Banks and run for awhile and see if any codes are thrown. If yes, disconnect the Speedloader, clear codes and run with only 6 Gun and see if codes are re-thrown. If not the problem is in the Speedloader.
From your posts, you did not issolate the problem as being associated with either the 6 Gun or the Speedloader, you only changed the 6 Gun box.
If the problem is in the Speedloader, check your EGT signal, and wiring connections. Also, check the startup sequence for the Speedloader, this is most likely not the problem.
I had problems with my 6 Gun box (old version) not showing the green LED at all. I will be sending it back this next week for replacement with new version.
At least if you follow my recommendations you will be able to narrow down the problem, right now you have so many possible problem areas.
Deep Enough

I'm looking to attend the DHRA event in Biron (Byron) IL on the 18th. I could bring my "goodie" box along and even let you try my 6 gun. It's not doing much these days...
ratlover 09-10-2004, 01:41 PM Might see you there then John?
BADDMAX396 09-10-2004, 05:21 PM Thats awesome i live thirty minutes from byron. As far as codes, yes that is the problem under hard accel it defaults to stock and throws a 4-1 injector signal fault. Plus it smokes ALOTT. Yes without the six gun harness it runs perfect with no dtcs. Even with the harness in and the bypass jumper ( eliminates gun but still uses harness) it runs perfect with no dtcs. Ihave tried it without speedloader and it still does it only under VERY hard accel. I have checked dtcs numerous times and none. Thanks for the imput. What i will do is run it around this weekend constantly getting it to default numerous times and check for dtcs. PS this thing smokes enough to drown out a small town if it did not default to stock, only on level six. A little on five. Also it does it at higher R's DAMN THE BAD LUCK

FYI-You can't do monitoring with Hypertech. Only shows DTC'S
Donald- "I had problems with my 6 Gun box (old version) not showing the green LED at all. I will be sending it back this next week for replacement with new version."
Interesting. I had exact same issue. Never drove it before replacement so I don't know if it was really working or not.
Baddmax, I'm still thinking there's something innate to your fuel mgmt that is triggered by the increase in timing and duration the box adds. Without the 'loader, it is merely adding less, and you suffer less. Level 6 + the 'loader does add a little rail pressure, too. A scanner might show if it's a real condition, or a ecm/sensor sensitivity kind of thing. What exactly is your "4-1" DTC number? "Defaults to stock"- the v2 'gun backs off for converter slip and 1500' egt. Are you getting either? V1 backed off at 1350, I think. Otherwise, it would seem to be the ecm backing off. Erratic touch of limp, maybe? The smoke indicates real overfueling. My brief forays on 6, or something + Pred, don't smoke like your describing. Maybe your injectors stick a little when cranked hard and long. Very unusual, and maddening, I'm sure, problem.
Everybody out there w/ an '03 and a 'gun doing ok? I've noticed more 01/02 guys.

JakeGMCHD 09-14-2004, 08:54 PM I think BADDMAX396 now has a truck that is running right. He's now a satisfied DMAX owner, other than wanting to upgrade his trans now. We found his truck demanding max rail pressure and dropping 7K-15K below demand. We replaced the fuel filter and went for a spin and rail pressure was with in 2K at all conditions.
