Just like dragging your feet on carpet. My son and i both have 05's Chevy's and we both get shocked when we get out of our pickups. I get it by the runnin boards and he doesn't have any boards and gets his by the bottom of the door frame. Its every time on the back of your leg. If were riding together we both get it on the way out. I'm just about to start dragging something to discharge the truck before we get out. Any help would be great I've never had this on any vehicle before.

Get leather seats that will fix it :D

Anti-static spray (Static Guard) worked a little on the cloth seats of the 99 truck I had. If your truck has leather then I don't have a clue.

Don't wear synthetic clothing. Synthetics fibers build up a lot of static electricity (in the thousands of volts) and you're feeling the discharge to the truck. Grounding the truck won't fix it. ScotchGuard should help.

It might help if you can put your hand on a grounded part of the truck before and during sliding your but off the seat. It should keep the static from building up.
Even all cotton causes it! I get shocked so much that I have learned to backhand the metal on the door before I put my hands on anything while I exit the vehicle! Z
Thanks for the feed back, I've got cloth. That makes me think i should've kept the old ford, it had leather seats. I'll hook a static wire up to me, or use the running boards with my feet instead of missing them and getting them on my leg.
Thanks again

I used Bounce fabric sheets, wiped on the cloth, helped a ton. Static guard and the bounce made a 90% improvement. Odd thing is my 01 will not do it, but the 03 and 05 sure do....????

I do not believe that the interior really has much to do with it other than insulating you from the body, but not from ground. I am pretty sure that the static is being built up from air friction while driving. My 98 1500 used to be terrible about it. It seemed to be worse after I installed my bed box. Extra antennas (anteni?) could do it, as well as a bug deflector. You might want to look at one of those funky ground straps that the hamb radio guys have on their cars....just be careful at gas statios.
