After a hard trip or couple of hours on the road, when I park overnight I'll get a 4-5" circle of oil drip from the engine vent tube area. Is any one else having this type of issue. It has not really increased my oil consumption (about 1 qt 5k miles) but it just annoys me to see it in the driveway. It is not a large quantity of oil, just an area that looks like you sprayed wd40 and dust sticks to it.

Hard to describe but was wondering if others are getting the same thing. 04 CC with 14k miles. oil changed at 1k, then at 5k went to amsoil. changed at 10k and will change at 15k (next week).

OK I'm not the expert but this is what I know. That tube on the front of the engine is from - I forget it's name - But from what I have read it condenses the oil vapor from the crankcase breather so that the oil does not collect on the fins of the turbo. I got to this because after an oil change I had noticed the smell of oil like I had spilled some on the exhaust. The next time same thing except I had been extremley careful when filling. the only place I could see oil was on the end of the tube (front of engine) and wiring harness. I never had a spot on the ground as far as I could tell.

Anyway something that I was doing was when I changed my oil was to check the dip stick and keep adding until it appeared right to the tip top. In the book I think it say exactly 10 qt. While I was putting in more then that - can't say exactly as I was using gallon jugs. Since then I have been more exact on the amount of oil I put in - just over 10 for mine and I havn't had the oil smell or had as much oil on the end of the tube......just a thought

but like I said I'm not the expert here.....what was that thing called

experts/wannabees like me - If I'm off base here or you can add something I would appreciate the input. I had to hunt around on the internet when I was trying to figure out what that tube was for......thanksEdited by: mightyvh

I have just a little drip on my vent tube. Can't say why you would have so much.
