: Updated Quad 215
gmccall 09-09-2004, 10:04 AM Quad updated my Stealth 215 box and my 1 day first impressions are:
The idle and drivability is much improved. My wife will even approve.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
No tests at the track yet, but low end seems to be as much and maybe more than it was. I can say tire spin is childs play. My Edge Attitude, which I have been running alone for a week on level 5, is not even close to the performance as the Quad 215 box.
Michigana_Joe 09-09-2004, 10:24 AM Does it stack?
gmccall 09-09-2004, 10:31 AM Does it stack?
I have been running with the Attitude on 0 so far to give the box a true test, so I can not say ....yet. I plan to test stacking after a day or so of driving with Quad alone. I was running with Attitude on 3 before. My track times are with Attitude on 0. I'm interested to see if I get that "surgeing" after about 85 mph while stacking and pedal to the floor. "bursting" maybe ?

I have been running with the Attitude on 0 so far to give the box a true test, Still not accurate. If the juice is installed, your still gonna see effects of it. Need to completely unplug it to get a real true test. Level 0 or not, its still 'juicin'

Yes I have read where the Attitude on 0 is still juicin and don't doubt it for a moment. I just haven't crawled under the hood to disconnect Edge Attitude. I'm lazy http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
blowinsmoke 09-09-2004, 12:38 PM is quad 215 available for my LLY? how much overtime $$?

Forced Induction 09-09-2004, 01:29 PM Yea, what version are you running and is your juice the HOT version?? Quad was supposed to be coming out with a new version that stacked well or so they say. Just wondering if that is it.
Also do you quote posts?
Jason
gmccall 09-09-2004, 02:28 PM I don't know the Quad version number, but the update came from Quad yesterday. According to Quad, this update is supposed to be his latest program. Seems like there was a version number that popped up on screen when I installed the new software on my truck, but I did not pay attention. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
My Edge Attitude is supposed to be the hot version (145hp), purchased from JK 4 months ago. Box said "hot" anyway.
An interesting thought; I have always had Juice with the Quad box and the Quad 215 has always felt strong, so maybe the juice is in fact assisting a little, even on 0. I will be running Quad on 215hp and Juice on level 3 + - in the near future though, as I want to set the power levels and leave them alone so the tranny will learn and "settle down" again.Edited by: gmccall

Did you have your Suncoast work done locally?

Yes, I ordered the parts from Suncoast and had Stewart & Stevenson Transmission located in Dallas do the install. Their pricey but the tranny has been good so far. A local Chevy dealer would not do the install. Feel free to e-mail me if you need their info. You might try a search on this site also, as some of us were discussing installs and prices last spring on this site.
Amric 09-09-2004, 10:18 PM If it is not too much trouble could you reconnect the tuner and look at the version number. It will be the first thing you see, and you will not have to reprogram to determine the version number. Also, be sure to post back after you have tried stacking it with the Edge. I have been waiting for a stackable 215 before sending back my Stealth for updating.
blowinsmoke 09-09-2004, 11:24 PM gmccall was your 8.55 with the 215 quad? what other mods did you have when you got that? I think that 1/8th is damn good. What do i need to do with my lly to get that?
thanks man
gmccall 09-10-2004, 08:37 AM Americ,
The Version No. appears to be 1.0.3. per the display. The display does not stay there long. (tried it several times)
blowinsmoke,
My times were with Quad on level 215 (just like I drive) and Attitude on 0. My signature say what I have done to the truck. I do have the electric cutout that I won in a drawing on this site but I have yet to add it. I will have to save the bucks for a 4 " exhaust or add it to my stock 3 - 1/2" system. I run in 4 wheel drive and have a best of 1.88 60 foot. If this box stacks I should do better.
I am not aware of the Quad being available for LLYs, but you will need a hotter box than the Attitude, and of course that large expense for the tranny. Tranny will probably cost more than all the boxes and exhaust you can add. If you have a hot Attitude you are ready for the tranny work. From all I read you should not be running mid 8 1/8th mile with a stock tranny.
sdaver 09-10-2004, 09:08 AM your still getting timing with the edge on zero and it does make an difference
gmccall 09-13-2004, 11:51 AM Update;
After driving with the Quad update for several days I am seeing a very slight "surge" at about 35-45 mph. Not what it was on the old tune, though.
I plan to go to the track this weekend for more testing and to see what level I might be able to run with the Attitude for stacking.
Diesel Power 09-13-2004, 12:47 PM I thought 1.03 was old? perhaps he in revering to older tunes?
gmccall 09-13-2004, 12:53 PM Could be or he never added an update number http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
I will see if there is an improvement in ETs soon.
Kennedy 09-14-2004, 03:41 PM I believe there are 2 version numbers. One is the firmware, and the other relates to the tune...
BassinRVer 09-20-2004, 11:30 AM Gmccall, did you make it to the track?
gmccall 09-20-2004, 11:51 AM Yep !
After playing with a few boxes for vendors I loaded up my Quad 215 back and eventual ran an 8.38 at 82 mph with a 1.85 60ft. I was having wheel hop issues at first and finally lowered tire pressure on my last run. That stopped the wheel hop. I'm finding out I should have lowered the pressure even more. I had my torsion bars lowered, but was still getting bad wheel hop before going from 65lbs to near 55 lbs in my tires.
The 1.85 felt good as did the run.
I broke out on my first elimination club run with an 8.54 on an 8.55 dial in, and I was having the wheel hop problem. I knew the truck was going to run if I could correct the wheel hop.
Sure was fun. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
oh yeah, for the record the Quad 215 stacked with (hot version)Attitude on level 1 did not net any improvement. Only tried it once. That was disappointing.

gmccall 09-22-2004, 07:01 AM Chris,
Haven't considered it. I have a prior commitment tonight. Just looked at the calendar and the track is not open tomorrow night.

SandDragger 09-27-2004, 01:56 AM I recently dyno'd Quad's 215 Stealth. Not impressed. Only got 365 RWHP. Then added his 60/110 box and got 406 RWHP. Certainly not the 450 RWHP I was promised with the prgm solo. Any input/ideas before I make a call?
BTW, the hot -Hot X from PPE stacked with Quad's 110 box was only 425 RWHP and 810 tq. And 370 RWHP solo. So I will be calling PPE as well.
Beware guys, all of this falls in line with other Duramax's as well.

Okay, here's my 02 cents.
I was not able to stack boxes with my setup either.
Secondly I also dynoed ( or tried to) and was told my hp was in the 368 + - range. The dyno only read 2 out of the 5 pulls we tried. I don't think I could run my times with 368 hp. The dyno shop said they were having problems dynoing my truck but that is another post. My point is you seem to be experincing the same results.
I ultimately rely on track times.
