i got priced a set of gears for the front and the rear at $570 shipped to my front door. is this high? how much is install on gears like this? thanks

That's about right for gears. Expect to pay another $500 for install.

If it includes the install kits that is a good price.

My old solid axle 1/2 tons are about $500-$600 per axle including parts/installation.

I imagine bigger,heavier HD stuff could be more expensive. Also, doesnt the front axle houseing have to come out of the truck for IFS gear swap (Not sure)? That could cost alot more as well.

Well you have to remove and split the differental, so yes.. The rear should be rather simple, the carrier has threaded preload adjusters which is a big help (to me) So really the only monkey(ing) is with the pinion depth ..

Front is another story.

My brother's 1500 Z71 was a 1000 bucks gears/kits and installation front & rear. Seems like there would be more to the heavier stuff as mentioned above.
