I'm lookin to do some work to my 1985 suburban 6.2l. It currently has a banks turbo kit (that needs rebuilt). Was curious on what parts should i go for and if 6.5l parts will fit on this block as well? Would just like some clarification so i can plan my build with better parts as compared to using the same stuff that came stock or the banks.

Also any info on regarding the banks kit would be apprecitated. Like what kind of turbo it is and what size flange it has on it as well.

The GM turbo setup and the Banks are completely different. No interchangability. Banks is pretty similar in power to the GM unit. Rebuilding the Banks turbo will be the easiest and cheapest thing to do.

As for the engine if you plan to rebuild that too I would suggest hardened valve seats for the heads, head-studs(no more TTY), Stud girdle, Dual-idler gear drive(no more timing chain).

Another upgrade for the banks kit is to use a wastegated banks turbo from their 7.3 turbo kits. Their are lots of companies out their that could sell you a cartridge or new turbo for your banks kit. One that I have dealt with with good results is US Diesel parts, talk to Moe.

Will 6.5 heads fit on that 6.2 block or any other parts that will fit as well. Also i will be checking out the US diesel today see what i can come up with.
