I have a Mac air intake system for my LLY on the way. I got it as part of a package with my edge/***.

I have read the posts on the air filter issues. I know that the test were probably done very well in a very consistent/ constant environment, but there are always uncontrolled variables. That is why several independent tests will reveal conflicting answers.

Anyways, Should I send back the intake for some money back before I even open it up? Or should I keep it?? I obtained a return authorization number, so I can ship it back no charge to me. I dont want to have my filter lubing my MAF sensor and to start getting codes.

I see most people use the stock filter and intake or the AFE 2.

any ideas?

unusually quiet group,

just wanted a little advice

thanks in advance

this is what it looks like, if I were to install it. Actually for you gear heads this is an LB7 so the LLY is a tad different.

Looks like they should spend some more time with R&D. Filter shroud does not seal very well and the chrome tubes love to retain heat. Yeh it will flow more air but hotter as well. Just an opinion but hope it helps

Is it normal to have the filter open to the engine compartment in the aftermarket intake? Should I put this intake on or send it back. i dont want to heat up things and after the great filter debate, i am not sure what to think.

Since I work for aFe, I know I going to sound biased but you wanted advice. I'd send the MAC system back. The filter on that system will be comparable or worse to a K&Ns and you can read the filter study for the results on how their's fared. If you need more airflow than what the stock set up will give you, you can consider an intake system. Take a look at what Mark Craig says our Pro-GUARD 7 systems.

I took it off and I am happier with it stock than MACked....I still have the intake and filter but my seller won't take it back since nothing is really wrong with it... I say it doesnt do what they say, ( i think its crap but i am polite enough on the phone with the salespeople to just suffice with it doesnt function properly.)
