Three times in the last two weeks and while pulling a trailer the truck just dies. Have been going 65 to 70 mph and step on the gas and absolutely nothing. Has not thrown any codes that the dealer can find or neighbor with a Predator. Oil pressure drops, alternator goes way down. First two times I coasted to side of the road and it immediately refired and off we went. Yesterday, stepped on the gas and it died and as trying to work from left lanes at 70 to right shoulder to pull off the road (with no power steering) I kept my foot in the throttle and after about 10-15 seconds of coasting and just about to get to the shoulder (sorry folks I coming over!) it picked right back up and another 200 miles like nothing happened. Any clues??

I would guess you have some loose electrical connections. Check all the connections at the brain boxes and the batteries. Thats my guess.

<DIV>I had the same problem last week. Try changing the fuel filter. That fixed mine.</DIV>

sure sounds like a plugged filter

New filters (factory and Racor) just put on about 2500 miles ago; checked all the factory wiring harnesses and made sure they are together; there may have been one that was a little loose; also checked the ground bolts per a TSB I saw somewhere. One of them on the frame was corroded so I cleaned it up and bolted it back down again. Checked all the fuses also, I just might have a fuse or relay going bad and with the rough roads here in PA I might just have to wait until it competely gives up to find out which one.

Any other ideas, keep them coming.

I can't get past fuel supply...High speed, high load and the engine won't make power. Any possibility that there is a slight kink in one of the fuel lines maybe as a result of the aux filter install? If the restriction is too high, it is possible to collapse the fuel lines.

Fuel lines are good; first thing we checked was for runs or leaks. And we have good pressure to the injectors. Has not happened in last few days and 1000 miles. I believe it is something electrical.

Sounds like the trailer is pulling to many amps for the the electrical system. Is the ball corroded? Just seems weird that it happened with your trailer on.

I was in CO a few weeks back and mine died on me while coming off Wolf Creek pass. Thank God I was not towing my trailer at the time. I had been coasting and pressed the accelerator to go around a vehicle and the truck clattered real loud for a few seconds and I went around the vehicle and let off the throttle. A few seconds later I realized the engine was off and I am accelerating going down the mountain. I coasted for several miles and pulled off the road turned off the key and restarted and it started right up and ran fine.

A couple of days ago it did a very similiar thing in slow traffic coasting off an overpass. This time when I pressed the pedal nothing happened for a few seconds and then it suddenly accelerated. This had happened a couple of times before but never got my attention much until the episode on the mountain.

I had changed the fuel filters (CAT and stock filter) before the trip to CO. I am not convinced fuel is the problem. I tend to think there may be a programming issue connected with a prolonged time of no throttle application and coasting. Coasting tells the computer speed data since the trans is still turning. Their seems to be a relationship between them in this instance.

I thought at first it could be a problem with the juice box since it had been raining that day and there had been some talk about moisture problems but not sure that is it since it was not raining the second time.

A trip to the dealer seems to be in order.

Possible a little air still in one of the filters. It does not take much to shut you down or cause a no start. I would also check the ignition fuse to make sure it is still tight. Later! Frank

We have gone over all electrical connections and checked all the ground wires; actually took them off and cleaned area around them and re-bolted them back down. Have not had this problem since and installed the regular Juice over the weekend (this was not on at all previously). I think it's a bad fuse or a bad relay somewhere.

Had the same problem with my 03 dmax. when it would quit i would coast to the side of the road and stop. I would open the water drain on the fuel filter and it would run fine for a week or to and do it again. I could of swore it was a fuel problem. It turned out to be the crankshaft reluctor comes loose on the bottom gear. they have to replace the reluctor wheel, 3 hardened bolts and add 2 dowel pins. since the repair the truck is running fine. to check the reluctor wheel you have to remove the crank trigger sensor and the sensor housing. take a flat screw driver and pry the wheel up or down. if it moves at all it needs replaced. Good Luck.
