I know the crossover is leaking,#1 I can hear it, #2 I can see a black soot coming from the drivers side. How badly will it effect the pressure of the turbo? It's seems to be pretty weak.

Is it leaking from a crack or from the gasket? Either way, don't leave it because if it goes, you'll be *ucked! Mine cracked in the summer and I just barely got it to the dealership and it wasn't pretty. No power, lots of black smoke, your turbo pretty well becomes useless.

You will have 0 PSI of boost....been there done that...

How bad it will affect your boost is probably somewhat proportional to how much breeze is leaking away...

At any are, if you are asking if it is OK to leave it leaking, most would probably recommend you replace it, crossover pipes are fairly cheap, I put one on last year with a new bolt kit, donuts and all and it was less than 100.00 Canadian

I've ordered one from warpspeed. I didn't know there were gaskets between the manifolds and the pipe.

Yep, little round donut type gaskets. Rock Auto is the cheapest. I just ordered 2 the other day. FastCR had a thread the other day. He tried replacing his crossover without getting new gaskets and he was having a problem getting things sealed up properly.

I just finished installing the Flowmaster cross over pipe on my '97 6.5L. I'm putting a new (rebuilt) motor into my truck. I haven't started it yet, but the Flowmaster is larger than the stock one for sure. My truck did not have any donuts on the when I took the cross over pipe out. The passenger side and driver side manafolds are a little different. I'll let you know if it leaks and I have to try and find gaskets.

I've already installed a 3" down pipe and there's very little clearance between the stock crossover and the down pipe. I'm really worried because I bought the 2 1/2 crossover from warpspeed. My othe big fear is breaking the bolts off the manifolds.

I have a 3" FLowmaster Downpipe on my truck as well. The larger 2.25" crossover pipe and the 3" down pipe fit. It's close and you have to watch the glow plug wires and the stater wires that run up next to the down pipe so that they are not touching it.

I just soaked the crossover pipe bolts in pen oil for a day and put the impact wrench in it and they came off without a issue. The bolts on the downpipe broke but it came with new ones.
