I am looking a getting a supertop by bestop http://www.bestop.com/index.php?s=53 for my truck. I want to be able to haul luggage and the dog box out of the weather but still be able to hook up to a goose neck trailer or carry tall loads when need be. I know the canvas doesn't protect against theift like a hard cover but that isn't what I am needing it for. The web site list the tops available for 1500HD short beds but doesn't list 2500HD short beds. I always thought the bed was the same but I want to be sure before I make a purchase. Does anybody know for sure? Does anybody have any experience with the supertop for trucks?

The only short box that is different is on non-HD 1500 crew cabs.

I don't know about 1500 to 2500 but the chevy and gmc have different box's. If you measure from the stake pocket down on each truck they are different.

1500 short bed is shorter than the 2500HD unless its on a 1500HD.

GM is calling them, short bed=5'6", standard bed=6'6" and long bed=8' most of the vendors are still calling the 6'6" a short bed though so it can be tricky ordering stuff.

I speak of the 900 series 1500 truck. The chevy and gmc have different box's. And man are they a pain to measure for Line-X, made me feel like a rookie!

I have been calling around and have found out the beds are the same size. So the top will go on but supposedly the 2500HD has a taller cab than the 1500HD, which will make the cab higher than the canvas top. Does anybody know by how much? Anybody that has done body work might have noticed. Are the cab doors different size?

Well I did some research and the doors are interchangable between a 1500 and a 3500 so the cabs must be same height. So the guy that told me that was BSing me.
