A buddy of mine just found out that he (the dealer thinks) cracked a piston in his 05 LLY with 90k on the clock. Any ideas what is causing this??

#6 is the one that cracked.

Also are there any aftermarket pistons out for the dmax yet?

there are custom pistons out there for the duramax that i have read about on here. however, these were forged, i believe, and didnt have all of the oiling passages in the pston that the stock pistons do. you will probably find it if you do a search on here. ill pm you if i find the thread. i think the pstons were made by ROSS racing.

Got Ross pistons on the shelf, not enough testing done on them to recommend them for a daily driver application yet. Have one set in an engine and so far so good. Have another engine going together with them now.

The LBZ pistons are they good for a daily driver with some playing on weekends? We get this tranny deal done so I can keep the black truck my next move will be you doing a motor. I want to have one built so when I shorten some rods...it's already done & waiting :D

The LBZ pistons are working well so far. So are the stock LB7/LLY pistons for that matter.

I'm guessing a little but the longer I can keep mine together the better my new engine should be? Fair statement from me? Basically someone else is testing this stuff & there will be more data available the longer we go.
