Ok - Being still very new to this diesel stuff I have a question (although it may be at the "stupid question" level): Correct me if I'm wrong, but gasser motors have fuel (gas) injectors also. Why is it that there is such an injector issue with diesel motors but not the gas motors??

Well, one major difference..
Gas truck, fuel pressure at idle. ~55lbs
Diesel truck, fuel pressure at idle, ~5500lbs
Gas at WOT, ~58lbs
Diesel at WOT, ~ 23000lbs

I'll add another difference in addition to the above,,,, current diesels are "direct injection" meaning the injectors are right in the combustion chamber. Gas engines have "port injection" (at best) meaning they are injecting fuel in the intake port (not directly into the combustion chamber). There is a huge difference in external pressures and temperatures experienced by the two different injectors (let alone the internal operating pressures that Dmaxallitech mentions above). One set of injectors is exposed to the 1000 deg F combustion event (along with the resulting pressures) while the other is exposed to only the relatively low pressure and temperature environment of the intake air.
Hope this helps,

Thanks - I knew there had to be a logical reason, I just couldn't see it!
