Which tuner/chip is the best to get more smoke? I got a stock tranny except for the billet torque converter. I want more smoke. Im going to sell my edge juice and attitude and get something different. Should i stack a tuner and chip or should i get EFI live? i dont want to ruin my tranny though.

There is a smoke tune in the repository for EFILive. You may want to go that route if all you are looking for is smoke. I wouldn't run too much power with just a converter. You can still easily slip your clutches with stock line pressure in the trans.

Yea, that makes sense. How much HP/torque would be the max that you would go with my setup, for daily driving and for drag racing.

i think any tune that is going to smoke is going to trash stock trans.

Very true.
You are probably going to get a few people on here telling you that smoke is a waste of power etc... Be happy with the smoke your edge is giving you. My predator smokes a little, but not as much as I want it to. But I can't afford a trans, and I like being able to drive around in my truck more than I like smoke.

ive heard the ppe hot +2 xcellerator smokes eratically in 4th and 5th. im running a ppe xcellerator economy. some smoke not much, but only running level 2.
I am one of those guys who fully understands that excess smoke is a complete waste. All it does is built EGTs without adding power. Having said that, if you really want LOTS of smoke......
1. Beef the tranny
2. Get John Kennedy's race tune.
3. Get the truck locked up in overdrive at around 50 mph. Put the pedal to the floor. Cars behind you will not be able to see because of all the smoke you'll make.
I did that by accident when I first got the race tune. It embarrassed me. I go to great lengths to make as little smoke as possible, and consider it poor throttle technique if I do make a lot of smoke.
You could also disconnect your turbo--THAT would make a lot of smoke. Perhaps even run a plugged up air filter--that might make good smoke too.

Ive heard the EFI live and PPE Hot+2 Xcellerator is the way to go. im want to keep the power but be able to smoke some too. I more want to do it to annoy the rice racers around here.

If you going to antagonize ricers, you better have enough power to outrun them. This leads to tranny problems in your stock tranny. So your best bet is to either build the transmission or stay away from high power tunes.
Kyle,
Before you do anything else beef your tranny. If you are running the Edge at anything past the 75 HP level you are probably doing damage to your tranny. I ran mine on the 90 HP level for as long time, thought I was fine, but when the tranny was built there were many burned clutches.
No, I never limped my tranny and that is the big secret. Trannies seem to limp at different levels of slippage, and chances are if you are running 90+ HP, sometimes drive it aggressively, and haven't limped; then you probably have one of those trannys that slips without limping.
Also, I wouldn't get EFI Live and the PPE. Get one or the other. The biggest power seems to be made with EFI Live, as you can do anything you want with the programming. If you don't want to take the time to learn how to build a tune, then do like I did and just buy someone's 500-600 RWHP tune.

My tranny has only gone limp on me once...but that was before the billet torque convertor. Now i dont have any problem really. I plan on gettting EFI live....but i was saying is that either PPE and the EFI live are the two best options for performance and smoke.
