Our 1998 Suburban 2500 GMC 4x4 has started stalling occassionally - about every 50 miles - but restarts instantly - without even coming to a full stop. I've serviced the fuel filter twice. It doesn't act like the PMD problems I've had with other 6.5's.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That is way my 1st PMD went out, stall & restart, do std troubleshooting, but if rest of the stuff checks out, that IS one of the fail modes for a driver. This driver still pump mounted ???

I will replace the PMD.
When the wife said she was having troubles that was my first thought. But it doesn't really act like the PMD problems I've had before.
Where do I get the best deal on a PMD with heat sink. I've used the ones with the green lettering on all my other 6.5's. Actually this is the only 6.5 we have that hasn't had the PMD with heat sink installed.

define best deal, for me replace it once and forget about having to buy another in 7 years was my definition of the best deal would be the Heath solution (harness tho functional was not as professional as Kennedy's), Kennedy sells the Beta/DSG, good professional kit, only negative for me with it, was no 7 yr warranty, IMO Nirvana best of best Kennedy harness with Heath driver.

Cheapest route would be ebay "used but good" driver, on a electronic device surplus finned heat sink, then make your own harness, all of which requires you to carry full responsibility at next failure. IMO any solution for maximum longevity needs to be outside the engine bay off of the IP. Since you have another vehicle with a 6.5, for test swap out one of those drivers, unless those are also pump mounted and a PITA to get at.

There is also one that does not get much press REMAR-Q (whole different circuit design 5 yr warranty) which had some problems in early days I don't know it's current status, some voltage and cold weather operating issues, which may be fixed by now

My idea of best deal is a new in box item or as new off awreck or blown motor. I remember checking with either Kennedy or Heath once upon a time and whichever it was was selling the same unit I put on all the other vehicles. I haven't had any of my replacements fail yet & they have all been in for several years. The unit I used had green lettering on it. I took off the plastic cover & mounted it there and plugged it in with the short wiring harness. Does any of this sound familiar?
Do you know prices off the top of your head?

Green lettering is the Kennedy/DSG one probably, I had 3=xs fails using it underhood, gave up on it then, my spare is riding there now in event my Heath leaves me stranded, Kennedy reports long time with his there also, again I never said that was a bad unit, I just prefer a long warranty, pricing wise they are comparable, especially with warranty taken into account. Check the websites out there, Kennedy has the Beta/DSG unit; & IIRC was 1st vendor to carry it in US, several other vendors also sell it, or copies of it. Out of engine bay I think it would be an improvement, though some say it's fine where is, I did some sort of scientific study that led my to conclude being under hood does not help any at all http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10778

Found it. Looks pretty cool actually. An entirely different piece of hardware might just fix it.

TD edit remarqtech.com non sponsor direct link removed Guys got to remember if they have something that competes with paying vendors we can't link them, unless they pay to play here also

Key word is might, check with others that run them, ask about fixes incorporated, keep a spare handy until you get some confidence in it

I just ordered heat sync kit with #9 resistor from SS Diesel. I order 2-27-07 and go figure they go on sale on 3-1-07 for less, just my luck. Right now sale price for drive unit, heat sync and #9 resistor is I don't know what other places are, I didn't look.

Any warranty from that vendor, and where does it mount?
