so i know everyones gunna say use the search for this, but i have and i can't find just a simple answer. my question is where is the best place to give it power, and where do i attach the light hook up to the dimmer.

Go down to PartSource or any auto parts place and pick up a couple of "add-a-fuse" gizmos. Lights go to instrument light fuse (I don't remember exactly how it's labelled, but you'll know it when you see it). Power for the gauge goes to any switched power source like the radio, anything that only comes on when you turn the key on.

The add-a-fuse thingies are $15 each (this is Canada remember) but they are well worth it.
