Well today is a very sad day, I broke my mirror and got this green stuff all over the side of my truck from the front door all the way to the tailgate and i will not come off. I've tried an abrasive pad, goo gone and medium cut cleaner all to no avail. What the hell is in that stuff and how do you get it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifEdited by: bjurkovski

What green stuff are you taking about?
Have you tried a clay bar? I am convinced that a clay bar will clean just about anything off of paint

I thought alien blood was acidic and therefore a stain would be the least of your worries.
Or could be predator blood...kind of a fluorescent green...glows in the dark. In either case we might not be hearing back from him.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif
Need to be more careful about clipping aliens and/or predators with mirrors...

The fluid looks like it was in-between the glass and the reflective layer inside the mirror. The crap leaked all over the place and the wind blew it all over the side of my truck. I have not tried a clay bar though. Where would I get one?
Well, tried the clay bar and no go. Any other thoughts?

Did you try asking the dealer for info??

Yeah, I brought it into the dealer and the word repaint came up at which point they recommended a body shop they do business with but other than that they were no help. I took it to a detail shop and they tried every trick they could think of and then took the buffer to it and they were unable to get it out. Why the hell would GM put something so corrosive in an exterior mirror that can be easily broken and ruin your whole pant job?

Try 60 grit sand paper with a high speed belt sander. That WILL remove the stain for sure.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif dwrat, do you think I could do that instead of just washing mine to get all the dirt off it? LOL.

I work in a gm body shop and i have seen this happen before. The alien blood that you are talking about is one of 2 things {i cant remenber} 1 is for the turn signal in mirrors? 2 is the defrost in mirrors. The only way to get off is to repaint the panels. If its not tobad u can have it colored sanded and buffed. If you have full coverage insurance u can say that some one broke your mirror in a parking lot.

That is fraud, and also why my insurance rates along with so many others are so high... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifEdited by: GMC2500HD

If it paid though comprehensive or collision insurance how will it affect your rates? It will affect bjurkovski rates not yours. With a 500+ dollar deductible on todays policies. It hardly worth putting in a claim where you will one get few hundred dollars only to have your rate go up 10 x that amount. If you want high insurance cost move to NJ.
