Got them mounted today. If the weather cooperates, maybe I'll get them wired in the next day or two. They're LightForce 240's.

I am curious to see how you mounted those lights to the bumper. Could you please add a close up or two? I hate the thought of adding a separate lightbar where none is needed.

Thanks.

i was looking at those and could see a way to mount them on my bumper but man those look good i don't think you will need you head lights anymore can't see the reason to turn them on if you got those on a dark road

I'll try to answer all the questions:

To mount the lights, I used a set of brackets made by member 7997redtail. He had relocated his lights and kindly offered the brackets for the cost of shipping. I painted them black before installing. Pictures are below.

The best price I got on the lights was $265 a pair, which I thought was great:
http://www.discountpowerparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=420

The black plug is where I plug the cord in for my heater. It is a marine recepticle and cost around $20 at boating places.

No, I don't plan on burning off peoples paint - I have them set to "stun". :D

Gonna need another alt. just to run the two lights, no need to plow the driveway. Just turn on the lights and melt it away.

Got Juice?

Nice, but are they rock-proof?

Tom S.
03-12-2007, 08:15 AM
Nice, but are they rock-proof?

What you are looking at in my picture, are the lights with their covers on. The covers are some sort of clear plastic, possibly lexan (sp?) that is high impact resistant. According to LightForce, they are shatter-proof.

SpoolinTurbo
03-12-2007, 11:54 AM
They're a polycarbonate composite material that is shatterproof, up until you get down to the temperatures where you can shatter a Coleman canoe.

Good choice on the lights, I run a set up here in Alaska where the nights are long and the dark's alot darker... lol

Now I just need to get 1 more toggle for "Blind" mode, aka all lights on to include the LF's.

Lights look awesome, I would like to do something similar, and with those brackets you might be able to bring the lights closer together and block off the bumper vents a little bit in the winter. Again, a very nice install.

Tom S.

I got the lights wired today. They are adjustable from a narrow beam to a wider flood. Third picture is low beams plus high beams, plus the LightForce lights. I need sun glasses........

Glad i could help out. Until you get the winch on be very careful. If you think you have a couple of inches to spare forget it. I would hate to hear you busted one of those nice lights. Lucky for me i only broke two cheap ones. The new ones i have are awesome and five times more expensive so i wouldn't want to break one of them.

I had the 170's and they worked awesome! after 3 years I had one light start to build moisture in the lense due to the housing being cracked. Not sure how the housing cracked, but they still worked great! I will definitely be buying another set when the time comes!

Nice mounts! Very simple and functional design.

My fear with those would be some A??HOLE backing into my truck in a parking lot and busting them up.

I'll look for the pics tonight - either Diesel World or Diesel Power has a truck in it where they put similar lights behind the grill.
