I hooked up my remote start with my Prestige aps 996 alarm. I used their passlock overide module. I set everything up correctly and the remote start will start the truck. However when it starts with the remote, the light on the dash stays on until I restart it. The light does not come on when I start it with the key. Any idea whats going on here?

I have had the same problem with mine for the last year with a Viper Autostart. It has been in and out of the installers 5-6 times and will work fine for a bit and then be back to its old tricks of bringing the light on. The truck works fine, but it is annoying. If I only knew a way to disable the light......

WHat is the code? You likely missed powering up an ignition wire. Most likely you missed the white second ignition.

The only thing I have to read codes is my EVO and it shows no codes during or after the security light illuminates. I was told that it was this loose wire and that loose wire. Then I mentioned to them that I had read about needing a data bypadd module instead of a resistance and they said that is what is there. So.......I have no clue. Is there a way to see what type of bypass module is installed and is there a way for me to get a wiring diagram to trouble shoot their wiring? Thanks!

I have no idea. I don't have anything to read codes with. But the truck runs fine just the light is on. This is the first remote start I have worked on so I'm not sure if I did everything 100% right. But I checked over all the wires and it appears to be installed right

Oh and I forgot to say, when I remote start it, the light is not on. The light comes on when I put my key in and press the brake pedal. I don't know if that helps

Same here - and sometimes comes on with the key on without the remote start and sometimes it doesn't. In the past before it was "fixed" and it did this, I completely unplugged the brain and had no issues. The first two visits had been for the check engine light coming on. That has been fixed a while back. I have my thoughts that it was the installer and their competence, but wha do I know? I found the installation book for my remote starter unit and I guess I will go through and look at some wires when I get a chance. I suppose I will focuson that second ignition wire and see what if anything it is hooked up to.

Maxpower -
Is the GMBP the one I would use for an 06 GMC if I find that there is still a resistance style immobilizer installed? If not, which do you recommend?
I am going to look into the wiring soon. Checking the ignition wires, grounds, and a few other wires that I have seen may be culprits (grey/white door trigger wire or something).
I have read on the net that if it is a resistance bypass installed - the reistance variable can change based on climatic conditions and get it out of range, but can still let it start - yet still illuminate the security light.
Any thoughts?

GMBP is fine but will not do the door locks. YOu should be using GMDL-BP or XK01. IF you are using that you should not see a security light at all.
I didn't read very carefully when I posted my first post. I was thinking it was a check engine light problem not a security light problem.
Yes resistor bypasses are known to give problems like that.

Thanks - how do you know what the resistance should be and how do you adjust it how do you measure for it?
I am out of town and will be a day till I can look at the wires.
