: Spray In Liner - Speedliner anyone ??
Steve Cornell 09-06-2004, 02:34 PM I need to get a bedliner sprayed in my truck this week and was wondering if anyone has any experience with Speedliner, I've had trucks with both Rhino (not impressed) and Line-X, I'm going to look at Speedliner tomorrow and was just seeing if anyone has any opinions???
Thanks in advance!
Steve
SUMMITMAXLLY 09-06-2004, 04:39 PM You may want to ask the dealer to see who he has as a vender. Sometimes a referral from the dealer may get you a special price. My dealer recommended me to a franchise of www.sprayontruckbedliner.com (http://www.sprayontruckbedliner.com). Save me about a $100 from list price. I thought it had a better texture and feel to it when compare to the competition. Mine is over the rail. Very nice straight lines. Almost looks like a drop in liner.
codythom 09-07-2004, 12:49 AM I had speedliner on my 01 and loved it. I had it in the bed, on the front and back ranch hand grille gaurds, on my toolbox, and on the bedrails. It never faded and it looked good. Held up to a lot of abuse. My dealer did everything for $615, so in my opinion this was a steal. I would recommend it to anyone. Just my opinion.
Burner 09-07-2004, 01:19 AM I've had it on three trucks..........works great. It's a little more on the rubberey side but it's not thick. The color just doesn't seem to fade. I had a "custom color" on my 2001 F-250 and it has yet to fade, Harvest Gold. {I still keep in contact with the fella that bought the truck....he doesn't have a garage for the truck.} It actually looks soo good...most people don't know that it's in there.
BTW, it can be repaired if you rip it off. Also, unlike Line-X, it won't "peel" if a tear occurs. I also like the fact that dirt doesn't seem to permiate the liner. Get a hot pressure washer on it and "bling" it's clean.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
The only down side.........it takes about three days to dry @ 75 degrees.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
I wouldn't have anything else.

CB_Rocket 09-07-2004, 05:07 PM i bought a 98' 1/2 ton a while back, used, with a speedliner spray in. have to admit it can't hold a candle to the rhinolining i have now. the speedliner was all chewed up after 1 summer, down the metal in some places. may have just been a bad install, since i didnt put it in im not sure but it seemed awful thin.
Steve Cornell 09-07-2004, 08:06 PM Thanks for the replies!
Right now I'm leaning toward the Line-X, I looked at a Speedliner today and I really liked it but Speedliners warranty has me a bit concerned (the installer warranties the work) and if he goes out of business your out of luck, The installer was a small body shop and his work looked good but I got the impression he has only done a few, I called a couple more dealers and they were guys that just worked out of their garage on weekends (maybe I should just become a dealer and do it myself) :D
The Line-x dealer is a couple hours away and I will try to look at his work later this week before I decide, the Speedliner was $365 (color matched) and the Line-X was $335 (black)
If I wase'nt going to start building a new home in the spring and use the truck for hauling I would go with the Bed Rug (I have a new Truxedo Low Profile cover waiting for the bedliner to be installed.
CB_Rocket,
Sounds like you had an install problem with your Speedliner, I have the same problem with the Rhino in my company truck, it's only 5 months old and big chunks are tore out of it, it's easy to see that the paint was not even scuffed up.
Thanks again!

tysmith 09-09-2004, 05:20 PM When I got mine Line-X'd, I watched the guy do it. He was a real stroker, but did a good job. On the next one, I'll do the prep work ahead of time, so I KNOW it's done right. The guy said he'd knock off some $$$ if I did. We'll see. I know with Line-X they can do any texture from glass to 3/4" gravel. This guy had all sorts of samples. No regrets.

8100HD 09-10-2004, 03:16 PM The important thing with the Speedliner is making sure that the installer gets the paint roughed up enough for the primer to bite, that way if it does get cut it won't start to peel up. Also, it is a bit softer than the Line-X so if your going to be throwing sharp objects like shovels around in it, it may no hold up as well. Thirdly, it probably won't be as thick as some of the others because it sprays on cold and if you try to make it thick on the vertical surfaces it wants to run, then you may end up with a sag or puddle, this may not be as important though because most of the abuse is in the bed floor and you can make it as thick as want there. Fourthly, check with the installer to see if he uses the Kevlar fiber in it, this is listed as an option when you order material but it is so cheap that where I worked we just went ahead and used in all of them, whether the buyer requested it or not. It is supposed to increase the tensile strength, whether it does or not I don't know, but it can't hurt it.
