I've got an 05 2500 HD 4x4 LT Crew cab Duramax(LLY). This is my first diesel. I do alot of higway driving and will be pulling a fifth wheel trailer at times. I'm interested in adding a new intake and exhaust system, a programmer and display such as the one from Edge Performance and the "Attitude" display. Would like to have anyone's opinion/advice. I want more power torque especially , and at lower rpm's. Takes a lil bit for this turbo to kick in. What other mods would I have to make, to prevent any damage to stock parts, like Allison tranny or rear end?

Thanks for your help.

You are going to be in an idle mode for a bit, there were programming changes for the extra power in the '05's and no one that I'm aware of has any power enhancement modules or programmers for them yet.

As for the intake, do a search for the air filter tests results and I don't think you'll be changing the intake system or air filter.

The rear end will take about what ever you can throw at it unless you're really beefing up in which case some sort of traction or wheel hop devices will probably be needed.

The trans will probably safely take up to about 80 HP increase with the truck empty, about half that loaded, without mods.

You might want to consider an exhaust upgrade since they are available right now and will be a necessary item for cranking up the engine output while maintaining some sort of sanity with the EGT's.

Zeeb,

Thanks. I've been reading here and a lot to say about keeping air intake stock.

Thanks again.

What kinda mods to the tranny? I hear a lot about Suncoast, but which kit? I'm not even the least bit familiar with the inner workings of a tranny.

4" exhuast from Banks? What are the advantages/disadvantages of losing the cat and muffler?

Hmm...

With those two sentences, you've asked for enough information and opinions to fill dozens of pages on this forum...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Might I suggest you do a few searches, the search engine for the site works really well, and you'll get more info than you thought possible on the questions you've asked.

I'm not trying to duck your questions, I just don't have enough room on one thread to answer them. That and the information you're asking for requires that opinions be offered as well as what is generally accepted as sound practice.
