Has anyone cut the plastic airdamn/trim to install foglights, so you didnt have to buy a new piece...??How did it go? Easy or PITA? How did it look? My local dealer wanted 400 to install on mine, w/ them ordering the kit, and new valance...Hoping itd be cheaper if i order the kit from Eric, and cut the valance....Thanks for any insight...-Adam

I've installed factory fog lights on several different vehicles and have never had a problem. Sometimes it is easier to remove the whole valance, but on these trucks, should be real easy - plenty of room. Just take your time, and it'll be a snap. Start in the middle and work outwards. I have used hand tools - files, hacksaw blades, knives - and a RotoZip. You must be good with a RotoZip, or disaster can result. So I've been told...

Remember - it's easier to take more off than put some back on...

You can try a hole saw. The type of saw they use to cut door knob openings. Works great, fits in a standard drill motor. Just go slow, take your time, and make sure you get a size that will work for your application.

I did mine with a utility knife in about 20 minutes. I tried cutting the exact size of the lights and it was a PITA. So I just cut the opening out at the intersection of the light blank and the recess. The resulting opening is a little bigger than the stock one, but you won't notice it unless you get very close up because the light lens protrudes into the opening. If mine didn't have 1K miles worth of bug guts on it right now, I'd take pics.

I don't know if this will work for you, but when I installed a set on my van, I needed to cut out the holes in the plastic air dam, so what I did was I cut a hole the size I need in a piece of 1/2 plywood, then I went to Wal-Mart and bought a special drill bit that Dremal makes that cuts plastic and wall board, then alls I did was I Duck taped the 1/2 plywood pattern to the airdam and I used it as a guide to cut the hole out, it worked just like a router.
