has anyone tried the hypertech to increase rpms between shifts ? im not interested in using as a power enhancer or other features that they have, just curious if anyone has used for more rpm's and what they thought / outcome, advantages - disadvantages, etc., that it has, or any other problems, etc., that could be associated with that setting (more rpm's between shifts) ?? - As always, thanks in advanced Edited by: tbone1227

"With the Power Programmer III, you have the power to customize the shift points in every gear." - per web-site, and material i had read previously - im just not sure if this is an option or not on the diesel LB7 or LLY ?? i know it is on my tahoe gasser - i can adjust the shift points on every gear shift by adding rpms or decreasing them so it holds off shifting til a higher rpm. I thought i had read that you could do that with the new programmer for the LLY but havent been able to get a solid answer on that yet ?? anyone know ? and if so, any advantage or concerns with that ?

Doesn't the TCM controlled the shift points in the DMAX/Allison configuration? (Diesel Tech knows for sure) Most of these programmers re-program only on the ECM.

In a gas engine configuration (say the Chev 1500) with a 5.3L engine, maybe the shift points are controlled by the PCM (powertrain control module) so the sales advertisement for the Hypertech would apply.Edited by: OC_DMAX

the deal is to up the red line so when shifts occur that the truck doesnt approach the redline thus causing a slight defuel, which looses time.the power loader raises the rpms and is my favorite.more exspensive but you get what you pay for.also quadzilla and bully dog offer programmers that raise the revs up.also if you have a hypertech cant you correct tire height with it?if so you could mainpulate the truck to shift sooner at least i did with the pred back before the others came out
