I want to lower my 2 wd 2500HD extcab longbed to make it easier for my wife to get in and out of. We don't want a radical low rider, just a couple of inches. We tow a 32 ft travel trailer and do the snowbird thing each winter and the truck is used as a daily driver during those months.

What is the best way to achieve these results. Most of the post I've found are for lifts or large drops. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes. talk to NorCal Nic , 1sic250, or 1lowdiesel. Or talk to the guys at extremediesel in NJ. There are ways to lower it as little as 2 inches if you want. I just dont know too much about doing it or where to go to get the kits. Im only interested in going up.

You can adjust your torsion bars so it will be about 1.5" lower.

Do not use the DJM lowering kit for the front. I've seen two failures so far.

Try McGaughy's dot com

they have some real nice stuff, designed for the weight and uses of a 2500HD and 3500HD. There are a few on here who are lowered and tow and they look great.

What were the failures? I've heard of this, but never seen any pics or specifics of what failed.

A 2/4 with spindles would likely be best for you. It would sit about like a 1/2 ton truck and ride like stock.

They come with welded control arms to do the drop, and they break. Major dysfunction and VERY dangerous. Last one I saw was on a mildly tuned Dually.

Well, I hope my 6" LCAs hold up for me. I've got a stinkin gasser so it's a little less weight on them, wish me luck. I've had no problems thus far, but they seem pretty beefy and well gusseted at the welds. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the input.
