Went into limp mode 2000 RPM the first and hopefully last time tonight. I have a 05 Crewcab 4x4 D/A with Edge A2 on level 1. I never get on the truck hard even with the Edge. I picked up 1900 LBS of concrete mix and had about 40 gals of diesel in the bed. Didn't think about tow mode as I didn't use a trailer. About 5 miles of driving at 65 put the truck in limp mode. Got home and did a few searches and most of them point to fuel pressure issues. I had my fuel filter housing replaced about 100 miles ago. My question is will the truck come out of limp mode on its own or will I need to change the fuel filter or is it dealer time? Thanks

Go to the frequently asked questions - FAQ - at the beginning of the lly forum and it tells all about tranny limp.

any codes? your description sounds pretty normal for a duramax... i doubt anything you did would be the culprit... id look further into the fuel system. I had what I thought was a limp scenerio and turned out to be a clogged filter. to answer your question, STFA but the truck will come out on its own in a few minutes.
fuel filter housing, whats that? do you mean just a filter? a new filter doesn not guarantee a clog free system

2000 RPM limit is an engine limp not a tranny limp. Have you had the codes read? P1093 would indicate a fuel pressure problem (ie maybe the filter) but could be other things as well.

My truck was having the same symptoms and it was the fuel pressure
relief valve. I ordered the valve shim kit and no more limping for me.

Gota have the codes to know if tranny or fuel issue. P0700 and P0735 are the codes I got that basically say, 5th gear out of range. Meaning level 3/3 on Edge is to much power :(
