Well i wasnt going to do it but i got to now, i blew the headgasket on the passenger side in between number in between the last 2 cylinders. So i guess im gonna replace both headgaskets and put the studs in. Do you have to heat cycle and retorque the studs, several have said yes and several have said no???? I guess the winter time had its toll i blew it on my first 1/4 mile of the season :rippedhan why dont gm make some good headbolts to hold so my grocery getter can be running again???JK anyways maybe it will be back running by the end of the week. Oh any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

If you have it that far apart, you might as well throw in a set of rods. IIRC, Merchant has said all the studs has installed have not required any retorquing.

I have yet to ever retorque any of these. Its not practical for the most part. I think it would be a good idea if possible, but dont see it being a big deal if you dont.

Depending on the power output of the motor you may need to re-torque. We have been working with ARP and there will be a new torquing specification for the Duramax application in the near future, as well as many new bolts and studs for the rest of the motor. :D
