First, I want to say that I've read quite a few posts here from folks who have had, or are having, difficulty with the Edge product. After 6 months of use I, fortunately, do not share your frustration or bad experiences. I have never limped my Duramax in any of the five settings and typically do daily driving in [3]. To this point I have not experienced any ill effects from the Edge.....knock on wood.:o:

Now to my questions:

Is it best to set the transmission setup to Defuel all locked shifts for normal everyday driving? What about towing?

What does the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment do, in simple terms? I know it adjusts the the level of fuel at low boost levels. What does that mean to me in terms of driving and performance, other than lots of black smoke on the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment [5] setting when I put my foot in it?

Also, on the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment display screen, options [1] and [2] have "CARB" behind them. What does that mean?

Thanks,
Eric

You sound like the captain of the titanic in saying this thing is unsinkable. You say typically you us level 3 but not all the time so thats saving you alittle bit but if you start not defueling the shifts you'll have a very short term tranny and it will be burned up in short order not to mention playing on level 4 and above you'll be sreaming ICEBERGE STRAIGHT AHEAD in your very near future. If you've saw all these post you say you've saw your truck isn't any different and it's just a matter of time if you understand all those that have wrote before you.......

Uhm....I was merely expressing that I haven't experienced any problems and that I was fortunate so far. I'm not sure how you came up with me sounding like the Captain of the Titanic from my post, I think my intention was misunderstood.

I was merely trying to get some advice about the best settings for the Edge.

I am sure your Edge is different, but. I was told to run in level 2 (tow) on a boost on 5 for daily driving. I also defuel on all shift during daily driving. I got 20mpg on a 5 trip the other day & I was going 65 mph. I also use that setting for towing, but it was on a boost of 3 instead of 5.

This is all completely personal preference to what you're comfortable with.

Defuel all shifts. If not you'll just limp it faster.

Sorry if you thought i was hammering you i just ment your truck is no different an all of are's they don't take much abuse on the higher tunes and they all not so but all limp there tranny from the excess HP. it's just on how much you horse on it it will happen saying you have gone 6 months isn't the thing it's how many times you run it hard. Stock tranny and hp is a sure way of visting a tranny shop. We know we've all been there incoding myself. are Duramax's are truly bad a$$ it's just the trannies arn't as bad as the motors.

i have a friend that has been running his edge stacked with a hypertech on his lb7 and has 55,000 miles on it now and has never limped. "so he says" he claims he runs the edge on 5/5 all the time and has never had a problem. so every truck is different.

I run mine on 3 daily, low boost fuel on 5 and I use the tow setting when towing(usually around 8-9,000 lbs). No problems in 31,000 miles so far. Also I have it set to defuel on all shifts, I was told to do that when I got it or it will like others said fry the trans in short order. Not sure exactly how "short," but I'm not feeling ready to spend 5 grand for a new trans yet!

Now to my questions:

1) Is it best to set the transmission setup to Defuel all locked shifts for normal everyday driving? What about towing?

My understanding is the Edge performance ehancements go away during the shift, returning to stock settings. The Edge enhancements come back online upon the completion of the shift. This should reduce stress on the transmission during the shift. Try it. If you are satisfied with the performance, then it makes sense to use the defuel setting with a stock transmission. Towing puts even more stress on the transmission, so it make even more sense to use the defuel option when towing. It is a trade-off as to what you want to optimize, performance or longevity.

2) What does the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment do, in simple terms? I know it adjusts the the level of fuel at low boost levels. What does that mean to me in terms of driving and performance, other than lots of black smoke on the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment [5] setting when I put my foot in it?

Sounds like you have this one already figured out. I believe the intention is to make up for the turbo lag when first accelerating. The idea is to get quicker acceleration by adding fuel until the RPMs come up and boost increases. It is at the expense of additional fuel and smoke. Again, it is a judgement call as to the benefits for everyday driving. Try it to see if the difference is worthwhile.

3) Also, on the Low Boost Fueling Adjustment display screen, options [1] and [2] have "CARB" behind them. What does that mean?

CARB is an abbreviation for California Air Resouces Board. The lower settings, called CARB, will produce less smoke, thus keeping the CARB folks happier.
