: bad injector no truck 1 to 6 weeks
bob plourde 09-03-2004, 09:46 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif has anyone had the problem with the lly running bad at temps around 180 with it smoking and skipping. the dealer said the #2 injector was bad and they are only replacing the one and it could take 1 to 6 weeks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif .i thought they had a tsb where they were going to replace them all. anybody hear of this or know the tsb#
NewD-MaxLLY 09-03-2004, 10:36 PM See "New LLY stumbles, Knocks and Smokes"
IIRC, the TSB for all eight injectors currently only applies to '02 and older LB7 engines. It seems to be reasonable to figure they'll include all the LB7's but I've not seen anything on that yet.
The LLY has an entirely different injector and is not covered by the TSB.
ekrott 09-09-2004, 08:50 PM My new LLY 12,000 miles is in shop number 7 injector is bad. Please let me know how long it takes to get yours fixed.

maynard9089 09-09-2004, 09:28 PM bob plourde and ekrott- I would have your service manager look into a new TSB to correct this problem. GM was working on a program to recalibrate the injectors of LLY's without having to remove or replace them. A couple of guys have mentioned getting fixed this way in the last week or so. I wish I had a TSB# to give you but I don't.
maynard9089 09-09-2004, 09:30 PM Here's the thread. Read it through to the end. (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12600&PN=1)
bob plourde 09-18-2004, 05:19 PM it has been 20 days and still no injector or truck and still have to make that truck payment
ekrott 09-25-2004, 12:52 PM I have waited 19 days so far for fuel injector parts for my LLY. Had the truck for 8 months its been in shop 30 days so far all waiting for parts. Hope I have enough trouble with this baby so I can use the Lemon Law to get rid of it.

#7 was also bad in mine. Took 6 days [Sat. - Thur.]
Drove great for all of ~70-75 MI when I got it back.
Same damn thing again this a.m. Took it back to the dealer.
Mon. they will look at it.
Service guys there all say this has been a problem -- bad injectors.
They told me 'you shoulda seen when they first came out......' .....'up to a month-6wks. for injectors to arrive.......'
Beginning to think that there are quite a few Duramax Lemons. This is just too coincidental.
It is really freakin' embarrasing going by another diff. make diesel, [Ford or Dodge], only to have it sputter, knock, smoke up a slight hill.....
I love the truck, but if they cannot fix it EVER, then I have no choice but to pursue lemon law and buy a Dodge or
Ford. On second thought, just a Dodge.
dmaxalliTech 09-25-2004, 10:27 PM First of all, I would have the update installed, I was also waiting on an injector for a truck in the shop, it was down for two weeks and I was reading on here one night about the reflash you all talked about, went in the next morning and lo and behold, there it was. Installed reflash and fixed the truck, got it back to the customer and he is happy. However, the injector I did order in is now sitting on the shelf. If one of youthat need an injector are still needing it and your dealer is willing to buy one from another dealer, PM me for details.

UPDATE: dealer could not get it to throw any codes today. They said 3 people drove it, and couldn't get it to knock/smoke.
So, they said ....'come back when we have a spare black box for you to plug in and drive around with'....
I guess this box records the first 30 seconds before the code throw and maybe even 30 seconds after if you hit the record button while you drive when the incident occurs.......?
Will definitely take them up on this offer.....
maynard9089 09-27-2004, 07:39 PM My truck NEVER gave any codes. Once the higher ups at GM got involved it was diagnosed right away. Have them check the balance rates with the truck in gear and the brake applied. I would bet that at least one injector goes out of spec which is +/-6. When mine was checked in park my number 2 was higher than the rest but still in spec. When shifted into gear though it shot to over+15 while the rest stayed in the tolerances.
ekrott 09-29-2004, 11:48 AM Finaly got no 7 injector fixed only took 21 days. Seals for Allison trans only took 11 day had truck for 8 months and its been in garage for 32 days.
NewD-MaxLLY 09-29-2004, 08:52 PM Ordered injector on Wed. last week. Took it in tonight will get it
back tomorrow afternoon.

sammy 09-29-2004, 09:39 PM Just as dmaxalliTech comented, it seems that the new flash update might just be fixing the trucks that were diagnosed with "bad injectors". Unfortunetly, many dealers are still generally inexperienced with the Dmax and do just a little too much guessing. My dealer does not have enough experience with the Dmax, but I am good friends with the mechanic, so he does his research, and listens to advice and comments I give him from this forum (i.e. the new LLY flash) Thanks guys...
