Ive been doing a lot of reading and Im still undecided on what to get. Im looking for suggestions.

I have an 07 Silverado CC 4x4. Its primarily a commuter, about 13000 miles/year. I pull a 6500 pound TT that I will pull several times per year. I dont need anything radical. I have fast and loud outside in my Corvette. Im looking for maximum effixiency and a little MPG boost for unloaded towing, and maybe a little MPG towing, if its possible. I just turned 6000 miles. I was originally leaning toward the evo, but havent seen too much posted in the way of MPG gains and the towing doesnt seem to be great. Predator with an EGt gauge seems very likely. Ive seen lots of positive. Wondering if an exhaust will help lower EGT's towing with the predator. Hypertech seems like a good towing choice again with a gauge, but some people dont seem happy with their customer service. Also wondering if opening up the airbox will help with a tuner.

Basically, I need to find a happy medium. My truck already gets good mpg. avg around 18 unloaded. I just towed the TT for the first time and it seems like it loosened up a little. Takin a 1500 mile roadtrip in 2 weeks and I wont have a programmer by then but lookin foward to seeing what kind of mileage I get

anyone?????

The Predator and the PPE tuners have gotten good feedback...EFI Live LBZ tunes are getting popular as well...Exhaust will help to lower EGTs and removing the cat on my LLY was good for approx. 150* reduction at cruising speeds...

If you want something simple then either run the predator of the triple dog IMO. Also you can run the PPE, not sure how it tows. I know that the Triple dog has a nice tow tune and I have used it, plenty of power. Nothing fancy, easy to install and use.

I had the same problem as well. I researched myself to death. I decided on the Hypertech III for 6 reasons:

1. Safe for the engine & tranny
2. Towing allowed in all modes/levels
3. From Research - Best Fuel Mileage
4. No other mods required
5. Best Price
6. Should't throw any codes

Just got it the other day. As soon as the weather warms and I'm home long enough I will install and let you know how it works out.

I would also suggest the Hypertech. For the same reasons as Colorado Christian. I do not plan to do any major mods, just wanted a little extra power and fuel economy, and wanted to be safe. I only have the level 1 tune installed, and it is like night and day. Some people have mentioned customer service problems, and others have had no problem with them. The tuner is very safe to use and install. I have also noted about 1.5 to 2 mile increase in fuel mileage gains with this ULSD winter blended fuel. Absolutely no problem with shifting.

JFYI, I do not have any other tuners to compare Hypertech to. I did all of my research on this forum.

Hey floridamisfit,
I'm in StL and in the same boat as far as truck usage. My TT runs about 7000#. I have 8500 miles on her at the moment. The first thing I did was AFE stage1 air intake, didn't see the need for stage2 for the price. Second I did the 4"magnaflow turbo back exaust, felt a hp increase there and about .5-1mpg increase. When trailering around Missouri I was getting 10-11mpg(with only5000miles on the motor), I'm hoping it will get better with more milage on the truck. I just got the EVO for a few reasons: 1.the gauges 2. the install was easy & came with everything 3. I liked that there was only three programs and you could update over the net. If EDGE could get a 2-3mpg increase while towing, I would be happier than a pig in sh*t!!! I plan on doing a transgo jr & allison deep pan just to be safe. I went with EDGE b/c I know several people who have them & love it. Also from reading on here tech support has been great.
I would love to see better mph, but I'm not one to piss&moan about 2-3mpg. Seems to me, every truck/motor is different & mpg are all over the place. If someone came out with a product that had a 5-10mpg increase, then we'd be talking. I compare the diesel to the gasser... and the diesel wins hands down. It's hard to complain when you're passing cars going uphill at 70mph with a 7000# trailer in tow.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Still deciding. I just did my first road trip unloaded. 4 tanks with the cruise at 75 mph...........Calculated 17.1, 17.4, 17.9 and 19.1...........not too shabby
